We booked a mystery tryp though NZ Insight and it was such a fun and incredibly exciting way to see Aotearoa! Luke made us a great itinerary that ticked all our boxes and made sure we were treated to a lovely long weekend away with exceptional effort on our behalf; all we needed to do was show up to the airport on time and the rest was done for us. We took almost all of the recommendations in our itinerary for food and leisure activites and we both surprised and stoked with where we ended up. You can choose your own budget for the mystery trips - as well as length of stay, and whether you want accommodation and/or travel - and I don't know how he made it work, but Luke managed to give us an absolute banger of a holiday for a price I would say is exceptionally reasonable. If you are keen to throw caution to the wind a little and do a sneaky escpae around NZ, this is such a great way to do it! The excitement about where we were going to end up was so cool and I would absolutely use this again to have escapes with friends of mine.

Amazing landscapes and friendly people. Seemed like I remember the UK from childhood. Sadly there was also prejudice as I remember.
We flew into Dunedin on South Island to visit my sister and then toured the south half of that island by camper van. We arrived early June in some of the wettest weather NZ has seen. It got worse, then it snowed. Roads were washed out including State Highway 1 and people died. Despite this the place kept functioning and detours were quickly set up.
We decided to head north for warmer climes and visit my nephew in Tauranga, North Island. Catching the ferry between the islands was a highlight despite it being winter and dark from setting off. Arriving in Wellington near midnight we were welcomed to our room in The Shepards Arms with a great guy moving cars about to get us in the car park. This area of Wellington was a surprise in being circa 150 years old and picturesque. The Te Papa Museum is a must see. Sadly that was where we became really aware of prejudice against the native Maori people with people not respecting the requests not to photograph certain artefacts and being rude when challenged. No respect. We later saw this in shops and Maori run facilities. Also the lack of attempt to pronounce names correctly - places and people. Hadn’t been so noticeable on South Island but it was there.
Hamilton Gardens, Napier, Lake Taupo, Lake Tekapo, Invercargill (transport museums), Bluff (oysters), Doubtful Sound, Rotorua, Waitomo (glow worm cave), Waimangu volcanic valley, all memorable. We drove just over 10,000 kilometres on mainly empty roads. It was winter and slippery in places with snow chains needed but only if you chose to go into the higher areas. Having a sister living there we bought a cheap certified camper van (£2,750), had it checked by NZ AA (whom we joined on 6 months tourist deal for £50) having spent £150 including a new battery and off we went. Older Japanese conversions are fairly common there and our Nissan Elgrand proved absolutely reliable and a relaxing drive with understressed 3.5 litre engine. My nephew had it decertified and sold it for a decent profit after we left so we got all our money back. Much more fun than hiring a camper.
Much of NZ seems familiar with English language and familiar foods. Eating out was surprisingly reasonable given how expensive things were in the supermarkets (and elsewhere). Vegetables especially so. We felt very safe everywhere, even in Auckland for our last night as we flew out when homeless people approached begging - they were friendly and jovial even when I told them it was our last night and we were out of cash.
Everywhere had spotless public toilets (except Gore where they were flooded but a sign said to use the shop opposite in the meantime).
We flew internationally Heathrow to Singapore and into Canterbury then domestic to Dunedin. When we left our camper at Tauranga we flew domestic to Auckland then international back to Heathrow via San Francisco so “around the world”.
Glad we had a reason to go. We spent almost 6 weeks there but probably needed double that to explore better. Will be back to see the northern halves of both islands, possibly in their summer but the awful weather didn’t spoil things.

We booked our surprise get away in 2021 hoping to head away for my 40th in October. However, due to Covid we were unable to go as Auckland was in lockdown. From the get go Luke was awesome with keeping us updated and checking in. We decided to shift our holiday to the Easter Break. We booked for a surprise trip for four (two adults and two teenager) for 5 nights. We were so excited with the possibility of where we could end up.
We ended up in Queenstown which we were all excited about, especially the kids as they had never been before. Everything was planned so well that we did not have a single moment of worry the whole time. The itinerary was clear and we knew where we had to be at what time every day. We also appreciated the suggestions for where to eat and additional things to check out. As we were away over the Easter break, the team also reminded us of additional cost on public holidays and tried to source places that did not cost extra. There was such a good balance between activities and down time too, which allowed us to enjoy our surroundings. We had an amazing view from our room balcony so it was nice to enjoy a few quiet afternoon drinks along with the awesome activities. Luke and his team through of everything, including added little extra surprises on our trip like happy birthday signs and Easter fudge deliveries. Throughout the trip Luke and the team were there is we needed them (not that we did as everyone went amazingly smoothly), and provided us any updates, such as letting us know that our Airport shuttle would be 10 mins early.
I really can not praise Luke and his team enough for the effort and thoughtfulness that went into creating such a memorable trip away for us and our family. I would highly recommend this company and their surprise trip to anyone and everyone.
We can not wait to go on our next surprise trip with the team!

The whole trip was a great experience. As an older Kiwi traveling on my own I found the trip itinerary easy to follow. The accommodation was varied and very comfortable. My likes had been well included with a couple of unexpected experiences. All round a great experience

I would 100% recommend Time 2 go, stress free and allows you to just enjoy your time away. We tried new foods we wouldn't normally eat and loved how much of the local businesses we were able to support and the recommendations provided to us. Will be placing another booking soon and already excited to see where we end up next!

This is one of the best planned breaks we have ever had. And the planning and information sent through to us was beyond expectations! Thanks Luke.
We loved the element of surprise of the trip - it defintely added to the experience! The suggestions of activities and restaurants were just amazing and we had a good mix of activities and leisure time.
Our accommodation was also quaint, cute and exclusive.
The best thing about Time 2 Go is the fact that you can to a large degree determine the type of break you go on as well as the budget.
What an awesome mini holiday and highly recommended!

I asked Luke to plan my best friend and I an adventure for celebrating my 40th birthday. I usually hate surprises but was also sick of trying to plan holidays and figuring out where to go and how to get there and this seemed perfect as we could give Luke some direction and just sit back until the day
We opted for a road trip and ended up on the ferry down to Nelson and Abel Tasman which was perfect, I'd never spent time there and have been wanting to hit the Abel Tasman track
Luke gave us plenty of suggestions for where to eat and activities to pick and choose plus two lovely lodges with everything we needed. Luke was also available to help via text the whole time, with ideas etc
Absolutely recommend

We organised a mystery 4 day weekend with Time 2 Go.. it was fun and exciting not knowing where we were going until the day. All the bookings and suggestions provided were fantastic, so make sure you provide them with accurate and relevant information so they can plan the best mystery escape for you.
My mystery weekend took me to an area that I am a regular visitor to, and they still managed to find activities to do and places to visit that were new to me.
Not having to spend time planning and organising allows for a stress free holiday so you just have to sit back and enjoy.
