Always go to the i-Sites to book your activities. They will take care of it for you, and also explain what you can expect from the activities. You can ask them literally ANYTHING.

If your needing to know anything then this is the place. They can get you deals on attractions, but with so many other places doing the same thing you can get away without visiting.

You cacn do a lot in 4 days, but as Dominic wrote including Milford Sound might be tough as it is a long ride. I definetely recommend upfront booking as well.
