    Great meal in staggering surroundings
No huge buffet is going to hit the bullseye in all areas- there were a couple of duff notes: underdone roast veg and an indifferent cheesecake. Wonderful grilled venison and a lovely apple crumble trumped this easily. The restaurant is in the gondola base in the mountains above the town. It is simply jaw dropping. Book the premium package for a guaranteed window seat and a free drink. This is a great venue with good food. The package easily merits 5 stars.

If you visit Queenstown, don’t miss it out!
Well worth the visit and if you go up, you need to do the Luge too! The difference between 2 rides and 6 rides in the luge is negligible so just pay for the gondola (and 6 rides) as it makes economic sense. You’ll definitely want to go down it several times whatever your age. The views from the top are spectacular and some amazing photo opportunities. Best times to go are before 10am and after 2:30pm as the queues are very low. There is a restaurant on the top plus a more cost effective cafe although neither are on the cheap side. This place is a must do when you visit Queenstown and if you miss it out, you’ll regret it! Whenever Queenstown is spoken about, people always ask if you went up the Gondola - so do it. You can then join in the conversation.

    Beautiful views!
Great views from gondola and decks from the restaurant at the top. Luge is super fun, went twice, but wish we would have bought more tickets. Great way to see Queenstown from above and the beauty of the Remarkables and Lake Wakatipu.

    Views make it.
Gondola Only - (no buffet). Had to do a second visit to the Gondola as travelling with friends this time around and skipped the buffet. We were blessed with an absolutely glorious day so made for some spectacular views from the various vantage points up at Skyline. Was also pretty busy and Queenstown getting back towards full tourist mode. Would encourage anyone visiting Queenstown to take advantage of the opportunity if the weather conditions are favourable. Be aware you will be paying a bit for the privilege and the views as its certainly not cheap for a one off experience, bumps up more if you want to try the bobsled ride or the other adventure options, mountain bikes and parasailing. Think the general ticket price should be a bit less exxy. I would opt for a season pass if i was living locally or on an extended stay. They are doing a massive upgrade presently and replacing the current 4 person gondola with a new larger one, construction well advanced - should be awesome when finished. Don't know why they don't do on in the Gong, down to the beach would be great. Certainly enjoyed the ride and views.

    A top attraction in Queenstown
It's not a cheap experience, but certainly worth doing for the views alone. Although each cable car takes 4 people there was no expectation to combine groups - so we had a cable car to ourselves for both the up and down journey. We welcomed that approach. We opted for two rides on the luge too which was great fun. For us 'oldies' two luge rides worked well but it is better value to book more and you will naturally spend longer at this attraction by doing so. The staff here were very friendly and welcoming - at the ticket counter we were made to feel like special guests and the young guy running the photo shop at the luge was equally enthusiastic. Parking was tricky - the only place on the South Island where we had to pay, and it wasn't cheap.

    Breath taking views
Direct from the companies web site and 100% accurate: You’ll be carried 480 metres above Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu to the top of Bob's Peak, where you’ll enjoy a spectacular 220-degree panorama with breath-taking views of Coronet Peak, The Remarkables, Walter and Cecil Peak and, of course, Queenstown. We couldnt agree more, wonderful afteroon spent at the tope with several glasses of wine and of course NZ ice cream. During our stay Queenstwon had the first snow/ice on the top of the mountains which transformed the view - just spectacular.

Stunning view, but mostly for the adventure activities?
No denying the view from the observation deck is absolutely stunning! Wonderful way to get a Birds Eye view of Queenstown. That said we were a bit disappointed there wasn’t really anything to do or anywhere to walk around up the top unless you had paid for additional activities or were having a meal at the restaurant. With young kids it was just a quick visit and a bit expensive at $46 per adult just for a lookout point and a very short cable car ride.

    Amazing views
Wonderful views! The experience was well managed and the lines weren't long at all. I particularly enjoyed the Luge — so fun and fast-paced! A really enjoyable way to view Queenstown from a bird's eye view. A definite must do.

Family loved it but still a construction zone
Went with the family just after the Skyline reopened in July 2023. Looks like they’re building parking near the base of the gondola, which will be great as it’s currently not easy to park nearby. The Skyline is clearly still being built so will only get better. This didn’t detract from the experience. We didn’t wait long to get onto the gondola and headed straight to the luge. It was packed, not helped by some mechanical issues, which their staff sorted out quickly. There were lots of people luging, which their staff handled really well. I found the luge staff really friendly and happy to answer questions. We LOVED it. It was cold but we had a great time. We had chosen the 6 ride option, which which was a good number of rides for a family. My main feedback is that were no signs at the first intersection on the course to show which direction was Dart and which was Arrow, so some people seeking the slower option landed on the faster course. Also, a number of people (esp. kids) got stuck on the course and there were no staff on the course to help. Other lugers had to stop and help. Skyline needs staff on the course for this. Recommended and (we thought) good value.

    A Must Do in Queenstown
This is a great way to see the best of Queenstown! The Skyline has been recently renovated to now take 10 per gondola (instead of 4) and the construction work continues. Great to take the kids if you also want to ride the luge and enjoy the jellybeans! A photographer’s dream… if you get the weather right. Rug up in the cold and enjoy a mulled wine at the cafe inside. A must do in Queenstown.

Three of us went up. The parking is a huge issue, as there isn’t much at all. The only spot we could get was a rip off as well. If it weren’t for that we’d have given it a 5 rating.
The actual gondola was clean, professionally run and easy to get on and off. The view from up on the observation deck was worth it alone.

Fun gondola ride, view is great but gondola staff can be overtly racist by packing 6-8 non-white tourists from unconnected groups into one cart, whereas white visitors more likely enjoy the luxury of not having to share a cart with more than 4 people unless traveling in a group. That is given all visitors pay the same fare with no special discounts for non-white visitors for not openly objecting such unashamed racial profiling. Would be nice if Asian-looking visitors can opt for 50% discounted tickets since we get only half the space a visitor of another race would have been given in a same gondola cart.

This was a really great experience. We had reserved a table for dinner in the restaurant and enjoyed a really great meal. The views from the top of the gondolas were absolutely stunning. Also, the gift shop at the summit had a great selection of souvenirs.

We arrived at about 10.30 for the gondola ride and had one to ourselves. View was amazing! At the top of the gondola there is a lot of building work going on and the walk to the luge is a bit up and down. Once near the luge you grab a helmet (avoid the cabin which is for collecting photos) and follow the queue to the chair lift. Once off head to the 1st time ride queue. Following some tuition you’re let loose for your first ride. It’s great fun for all the family (in the dry) and highly recommended.

Unfortunately it started to rain quite heavily for our 2nd ride and had become much busier. We also queued for a while as the luges were unavailable for about 5 minutes and then there was a surge of activity, which meant a lot of people on the track - Some young, some experienced and some not, some fast and some slow. We felt our second run was quite dangerous, the track was very wet and the brakes were definitely not as efficient so it made it quite a challenge to avoid young children being coached by their parents and those adrenaline junkies that wanted to get to the bottom as fast as possible. There were some accidents where people collided and on one occasion tipped over. My advice would be to avoid the rain for sure and head up on a nice dry day.

We decided to do this last minute on a rainy day and it ended up being so fun! A bunch of 30 year olds going down the luge track giggling like children! It was a good way to spend a chilly afternoon in Queenstown.

We recently spent a week holiday in Queenstown. One of the first attractions we visited was the Skyline gondola ride. We enjoyed the magnificent views both up and down the hill overlooking the town, the lake, and the neighboring vistas. The ride was quiet and comfortable. We were in a small public group in the gondola itself, which is completely enclosed and with glass all around for viewing and taking photos. We were able to read about Project Skyline and the upgrades planned for 2025. You are able to see the Crown Range and the Single Cone peak. There is a large gift shop, restroom facilities, and dining available. The descent is equally quiet. Tip: To get to the Skyline, it requires walking uphill from Queenstown so make sure you wear comfortable shoes.

We went 16 Jan and visit again on 18 Jan, only 48 hours after we been ask to pay additional charges with same combo/ activities, we pointed out overcharge issues to the team (served by Mclcolm and team), they only care about right or wrong in their end, we felt been ripped off because we become returning customers. We had good experiences couple times before but not this time.

I nearly didn’t hop on the gondola because of the price (48AUD) but the views and options at the top won me over. I ended up spending two hours here. I had a lovely coffee and cake while overlooking Queenstown and the mountains, then enjoyed walking around and watching the Luge and nearby paragliders. Worth it just for the views, very glad that I went through with it.

Very pricey for the average Kiwi, ongoing construction was inconvenient & mtb trails are blown out as f, braking bumps galore, urgent trail maintenance is needed. Won't be back
