The ski season is over when we visited in October but the drive from downtown on Canyon drive is beautiful. Stop at Coronet peak then through the valley to charming Arrowtown. You can make a loop to go back to Queenstown.
Having dicky knees, I don't ski. But a drive up to Coronet Peak was great.
The car park was icy, so care needed.... but nothing unusual in that.
Really nice for young families.

We had s great morning at coronet peak, the mountain is very accessible from qtown or Arrowtown. The facilities are great, but felt s little overpriced to be fair. Great grooming and not many people made for a great morning.
