This is a peaceful river that flows along the chinese settlement village. It creates a peacful and lovely mood around the area.

The history around the Chinese settlement is fascinating and the trails that can be walked are great. Options for advanced or easy walking and quick access into raw and beautiful river valley scenery.

We took a family walk along the river bank and had a pleasant walk by the sandy and rocky banks of the river. Can see why its appealing and chosen for the Lord of the Rings movie.

Only a few mins drive from Queenstown. lovely river walks and historical site from gold rush days. Close to the town which is very quaint. Try the pies from the bakery.

Depends on the time of year, but it is so relaxing to meander up or downstream either along the track or wading from pool to pool across the shingle tails. A mountain bike can add to even further fun because you can do it all...More

Super hike but be prepared to get your feet wet. We took the lower track and crossed the river a number of times. The weather was really hot so this was not a problem. great views, good history. Good hike for fit people.
