The best!
Apr 2021 • Couples
I saw the reviews for Chard farm, yesterday, the day before we were leaving Queenstown. So, quickly made a call to find out if they were open, it being Easter Monday. This was the best wine tasting I’ve ever experienced. Pauline, our host, was a hoot! She was so funny and she knew her wines. The views on our way there, were so beautiful. Well worth the 1.5km unsealed road, to get there. 10 out of 10!

It is a destination - you drive up a windy unsealed road - watch for traffic the other way
Feb 2021
Chard farm is situated up a long unsealed road - if you are in a campervan this road would be unsuitable so I would suggest hooking up on a tour or going by car - or even ebike! . Be aware of traffic coming the other way. Once you are at the cellar door the view is spectacular. We were hosted for wine tasting by Pauline, she was very informative and friendly. The wine tasting is free should you buy some wine - or if you don't purchase wine they ask for a donation which is then passed on to the local hospice. The Pinot Noir wines are beautiful - not cheap - but lovely. They don't have a restaurant - mainly because of the road access - it wouldn't cope with all the traffic we were told.

great wines, spectuacular views, but if you have a large campervan......

Great wines. The road trip in is spectacular, BUT, please note it is not for the faint hearted. If you are in a normal sized car, all good. We were in a campervan. It was scary. I DO NOT recommend travelling along this road in a campervan, and suggest to the owners they put a warning sign at the start of the road. I would go back to CHard Farm, so i do want to recommend visiting them, just the campervan thing that visitors should be made aware of

Must visit but drive carefully
Nov 2020
A friendly cellar door at this winery which was one of the firs to be established in the region. Drive slowly and enjoy the view on the way in and on the way out. A good selection of wines that are true to the region. Worth the visit.

Awesome wine, even better service

We visited Chard Farm earlier this week for a tasting. Such a gorgeous vineyard, with some delicious reds on offer. The highlight for us was our host Pauline who was both informative and hilarious, she really made the experience a stand out one.

Average is a good description

Visited late in the morning. An average range of wines with an average presentation of them. It was worthwhile visiting but there are better wineries close by,

Wind your way into a lovely drop
Oct 2020
After a windy drive on what used to be the old road into Queenstown, we arrived at the cellar door of Chard Farm Winery. The beauty of the building caught our eye and we stood there for a few minutes to take it in. We headed inside and was greeted by Susanne. She lead the four of us through a wine tasting, with many of the wines catching us by surprise. Just as she mentioned, we enjoyed the chardonnay! Never would I have reached for one before I tasted this drop. When a party of 8 arrived unannounced, she handled it with ease and managed to look after them at the same time, without us feeling forgotten. You can bet we ordered a case to be delivered home to Auckland!

V good

Popped in on Sunday for a quick tasting. Complimentary tasting if your purchase a bottle, we did at $30.00, not overpriced. Or, if you don't make a purchase, they ask you to make a donation to their charity, not sure if they have a minimum or what knows, but good system. We had Suzanne, she was nice. It was quite crowded in there, couldn't practise social distancing at all. Also, the unsealed road up to the Cellar is ruddy scary, we did it in our Hiace campervan, but my goodness we wouldn't dare do it in any bigger, it's one way, cliff edge and no turn around spots, think before do.

The road alone is an adventure & then there’s the wine!
Aug 2020
That road is so worth it for what meets you at the other end is splendid wine, a winery that could have you thinking you were in Tuscany with well informed staff.

The team will ensure you not only experience their beautiful wine but have a few good laughs alone the way.

Pauline you are amazing may your hip take you everywhere you need to go and thanks for letting us be your first group back after you op, it was our pleasure 🥂
