Worth the hike! What a view!

Did this Anzac Day! With some friends. I found the hike up really physical but when we got to the top the view was so worth it. I would recommend taking plenty of water as there are no taps and a little good. Also I found that starting early in the morning meant that we had the walk almost completely... More

I think it's a must so in Queenstown! I did it starting from ctr of town and back in about 6 hours, but my fitness level is high. My experience was I viewed many people were turning back and not going all the way due to either being too tired, or too scared to make the final hike to the... More

I really enjoyed this hike, we started around 1 PM from the top of the gondola and got back around 6 PM. It's a strenuous but really fun hike-- not all of our small group decided to go all the way to the summit, with some turning back at the saddle, because it truly was tiring. However, I found the... If you search Ben Lomond Track under Department of Conservation this track is graded as easy walk. I didn't find it easy. I wish they had their information accurately published so that I would be better prepared. Other sources graded this track as high fitness. We hiked about 6-7 hours in total return (to the summit). The suggested time to... More

Started at Bob´s Peak, the top of the gondola, and walked up to Ben Lomond Saddle. Didn´t go up to the summit because it was covered in clouds. A bit of exercise to climb to the saddle but we got rewards during the walk, fantastic view!

Grab a couple friends, pack a lunch & enjoy a beautiful hike to the top of the summit with breathtaking views. Warning it is a lot of UP. Pack water and layers :)

We started from the bottom, not the gondala start. And It was a workout! It was up, up and more up for a good hour and a half. We have hiked a lot and both of us felt like unfit and weak! But it was so worth it! Every ache, curse, and liter of sweat! The views are great, the... More

I made it a bit past the saddle and my brother went to the summit. Both of us thought it was a good track and well worth the effort. We were lucky to have a beautiful day, but be prepared for fast temperature changes. The wind picked up and sun disappeared about halfway through and made a huge difference. Take... More

I have done the Ben Lomond track twice, both times with a group of 12+ studenst with me. If the weather is bad it is not worth it, but a bit of rain is okay, if it looks like it could clear, and clouds are for sure welcome, because there are no cover on the track, so in full sun... More

Started from the lake Esplanade / thompson road. First Part is forest and a bit steep and there aren't many signs for the track. A few downhill tracks crossing the way. Upper part is easier. A few good scenic viewing points on the way to the summit. About seven hours return. Took me five and a half in a swift... More
