A few years ago i trekked from the bottom of the Skyline gondola's, leaving at about 1pm, I could only reach the saddle. This time, I left at 9.30am, took the gondola, then walked the rest of the way. I was recovering from a virus,...More

Take the gondola to start with - it gets the first few hundred metres of ascent out of the way, and makes for some nice photos. The track to the saddle is excellent, and you start to get some great views of the Remarkables. Continuing...More

Amazing day hike which gives you a good overview over queenstown and the areas nearby. Stunning scenery. The last part of the track to the summit is about an hour and is pretty hard, but absolutely worth it!

I have hiking experience but found this hike to be a challenge. The views from the top were amazing! Especially when reaching the saddle and the whole valley comes into view! I would recommend this hike, wear proper walking shoes and take water and snacks...More

I went on a kind of cloudy day and thought it'd very hard from the posts I've read here, especially from the saddle to the summit. For my surprise it was quite ok. There was some ice and I didn't have hiking boots but I...More

Definitely has to be on your list of free things to do in Queenstown. I thought it was a little intimidating - the fact it is 6-8 hours return, but, in fact with a reasonable level of fitness it's fairly smooth going until about the...More

I believe you can refer at the reception counter at the Gondola station if you need any gears/accessories to climb during winter. We had our climb during autumn and no guided tours needed just follow the trail. I'm not sure... More

Yes, you can easily access the trailhead from downtown. Just walk toward the chairlift and you will see the trail. If short on time you could take the chairlift and begin the trail a little further up. There are clear... More
