Started from the Fernhill roundabout but the track has fallen in some parts with fallen trees too so got a bit confused near the top of the stream. May be better from Brecon Street as that path is well laid out and better maintained. Walked through the pine forests which for me is nothing special. Once you clear the pine... More

This hike is so so good. It is pretty easy, trails are super nice to walk on. More of an open view hike instead of thru the canopy thus super pretty. I was so reluctant to go back to the gondola but I have booked activity in the evening. The only sad thing is the mist at the peak in... More

lovely setting and so close to the city centre, we started from the top of the gondola and took a about hours up and down to the saddle, great views from here, wish we went to the peak but daylight was fading, will endeavour to go back.

My brother and I took the Skyline Gondola (as we were still a bit sore from the Milford Track!). NZD35 for a return trip. Even with the help of the Gondola, it was a 5 hour return hike for us, 10am - 3pm. This included a very long lunch break and hiking up to the peak 3/4 of the way!... More

Ben Lomond is one of the highest Peaks around and we'll worth the hike up. We walked from the top of the gondola to save some walking. It's relatively easy to the saddle, then steeper and harder to the top but within the capability of most hikers in good conditions and in summer. As always in NZ hike carrying water... More

You catch the gondol up to start the walk. Even if you only get to the saddle the views are great but then they keep getting better. The cafe at the top of the gondola is also affordable and pleasant.

Amazing view and experienced trekking above the clouds. Although so, it was not cold because of the long walk. :) Have something light before starting the trek. Medium walk and if you have the time, spend some time at the top. Go early. I went at 4.30pm, had to rush through the walk.

Brilliant walk with changes in scenery all the way. Make sure to go in good weather for excellent views or pack appropriately for a lovely, medium walk. Would say it's worth a little picnic at the top to go with the views.

A challenging 5 hour return hike, especially the last hour up to the summit is quite steep and rocky. But you are rewarded with a breathtaking view afterwards! Pack your lunch and enjoy it at the summit while taking in the view. We stopped over at the top of the Gondola on our way back for a coffee break, and... More

Be prepared, if you are going from the bottom (of Skyline) to the top (water, food) ! Over 3h to climb (and same to go down), with a first hard one (Tiki trail), and a last hard part too ! However, totally doable and definitely a must do ! The view is stunning, and you have the possibility to "cheat"... More
