This was a relatively easy hike, mostly through the forest, with a river running nearby for most of it, with fast water and rocks. You cross over on a bridge and there's an impressive waterfall near the end.

An excellent 3 hour loop trail best done anti-clockwise. First part of the walk goes through forest that seems to be badly affected by some sort of sooty mould but offers good mountain views along the way as you are constantly climbing, eventually coming out...More

This is a nice short hike with some undulating hills and lots of shade. It meanders up to Sam's Hut, an old miners shack. The hike is quiet and not heavily tramped so it is a lovely half day hike or less hike. There is...More

There’s much discussion about the “best“ way to do this circular walk – but I’m not sure it makes a huge difference. If you go anticlockwise, the track starts fairly steep for a while before levelling off, and towards the end, the path has a...More

Lovely, well maintained trail - some steep and some level spots but shade always available. Beautiful views of Lake Dispute and Wakatipu. A plus is the stop at the Sam Summers Hut along the way. Helps one appreciate the stamina and resourcefulness of a gold...More

A really beautiful loop track, just outside of Queenstown, on the Glenorchy Road. The sign says it will take 2-4 hours. We completed this track in about 3 hours, stopping at the top for 15-20 minutes to admire the absolutely beautiful view. As recommended by...More

This track starts with a lot of uphill walking, but YES it's worth it. Fantastick views along the track, and a big plus that it's a loop track.

We were the only car in the car park when we hiking about 10:00 am and met only two people on the first half of the loop. By the time we finished, there were 15 cars in the park and we were meeting people regularly...More

Loved it! The track is well indicated. You spend a long time in the forest which is great on a sunny day. Beautiful views and not too hard of a walk. Perfect.
