Compared to some of the epic trails in the area, this is not that amazing. However it's a lovely little circuit that provides nice views. The trail climbs gradually to the midway point and descends in a similar manner. The river is cool and surrounded...More

Good undulating short hike that took us - two fit mid 50 year olds, 1.50 hours. We preferred to tackle the loop clockwise, passing Sam's hut first as we'd rather walk the steeper sections on the incline rather the decline. The track is well maintained...More

We are husband and wife, 71 and 70 respectively. We regularly walk 5 or 6kms when at home but on mostly level ground so we are not fitness fanatics or used to uphill hikes. Without any preparation I think we would find this a pretty...More

This is easy to find if you have a vehicle and know where to look. It is a wee way out of town towards Glenorchy but worth the drive. It's a well maintained track and has stunning views. Less crowded than the town walks

One of the nicest walks I did in NZ. Lovely loop trail that follows the river. Easy well formed trail with some easy climbs. Very pretty. Good views

This was a relatively easy hike, mostly through the forest, with a river running nearby for most of it, with fast water and rocks. You cross over on a bridge and there's an impressive waterfall near the end.
