Interesting sights
Nov 2019
Ferry tides are usually very interesting, as they provide opportunity to see what one cannot see through rides. The wast pool of water, with it’s own flora and fauna. Queenstown ferries are very enjoyable at a low cost.

Best Bargain in Queenstown
Jan 2020
This is the best bargain in Queenstown - for just $9 you get a fast ferry ride out of Queenstown, around the point, then down the far end of the Frankton Arm to the Hilton. It's effectively subsidised public transport, but it's a great way to enjoy a cruise on the lake, and then a lovely walk back, for an absolute bargain.
The trip leaves from just in front of the embarkation point for the steamer, is fast, fun and has great views of the town and then down the arm.
Stop at the Hilton for lunch and get the next ferry back, or, do as we did and walk back - it's flat, has some lovely views, and the Boatshed Cafe at Frankton Marina makes a great half way stop for lunch.
You can just turn up, but as numbers are limited, best to book, as they have no capacity to run extra services.
And note, this is now a sperate service to Queenstown Water Taxis, which will do the same run for $50, but does have the advantage of being flexible with times and numbers, as it is a taxi, rather than ferry service.

Pathetic attititude
Jan 2020 • Couples
We went to Bay View. There were 12 assorted people there. So the ferry had only one place. OK. That happens. The driver apologised. We asked if he could do the 6 minute journey to Queenstown with his full load and then come back to pick us up. He never came close enough to hear us but mumbled something, which we could not hear properly, about not being allowed to do it. Local people there said other drivers just use their common sense- of course - amd just come back and make sure they provide a service. But not this guy. Too much government subsidy obviously available. When I tried to call the company, Queenstown Water Taxis, I realised they studiously avoid giving a telephone number. I hope they enjoy their time in the pub while their passengers remain stranded. Pathetic.

Fast and Fun across the Lake
Nov 2019
The ferry was a relaxing way to travel around from Frankton to the main port of Queenstown and return. It was good value - and a discount for Hilton guests. A bit of a step in and out, so not good for those with bad knees, hips or wheelchair.

Fun way to get to Frankton & back
Oct 2019
This was such a great little ferry trip. It stops at 5 different places on a round trip eg the Hilton in Frankton, and the golf course. One way is $9 pp (20 minutes) and you don't have to book.
We wanted to see QT from the water, but didn't want to pay exhorbitant rates or go on any long boat rides, so this was perfect.
We'd recommend you go when the weather is reasonable. It was quite a windy day and the water was choppy, but we had fun riding the waves and bouncing on them!
