About
Take the journey into the Queenstown back country with our breath-taking kayak or SUP experience to the stunning Moke Lake. Located just 20 minutes from Queenstown this quiet and peaceful setting allows you to escape the hustle and bustle of town and immerse yourself in a beautiful rural New Zealand environment surrounded by mountains. One of our friendly guides will pick you up from Queenstown and drive you in comfort to Moke Lake. Along the way you’ll get a knowledgeable (perhaps even funny) commentary about the local region and feel free to ask any questions. Once at Moke Lake we’ll run through a few safety features and let you paddle off at your own pace! When you return we’ll have a few kiwi refreshments waiting for you.

Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

$40 for me and the 10 year old to hire a kayak for 45 minutes. A little pricey, but it is Queenstown!
You have a large area to kayak in and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
It was a lovely warm, clear day and this was a very pleasant way to have a bit of an explore.

Put the 8 & 9yr old on the aqua bike and off they went. They had the time of their lives while I was able to get stunning pics of them laughing, the mountains, the Earnslaw a kayaker in the distance and the shark ride (thing?) all at once. Just remarkable!

Finding this place was easy, just pop over the Queenstown Beach.
Plenty of kayaks and other water sport equipment on hand.

45 minutes for around 20 minutes, kayaking was fun.
We were given life jackets, and told safety stuff.
Operators were really friendly and helpful.

Had a great morning on the aqua bikes with hubby and our 2 and 4 year old boys. The kids were too short to reach the pedals, but enjoyed being out on the water as it was our first experience. The owners/operators were very friendly and helpful and kitted us out with life jackets and helped the little ones on/off the bikes. Scenery was beautiful and it made for a very pleasant morning.

We had the lake to ourselves. Guides were outgoing, easy to talk to, fun and very knowledgable about the land and its history. Views were amazing!

It was an easy walk to the parking lot from the center of Queenstown where we were picked up in the van.

Ben and James were great guides. They were awesome with our kids (10 and 11), and helped us all settle into kayaking. Ben has a wealth of knowledge about the area with a lot of funny stories. Booked a half day, but wished we had the whole day to explore more of Lake Wakatipu

Ben was a great guide. He provided us with a flexible tour as the weather did not permit us to go on the original booked date. As beginners, he set a comfortable pace and was really knowledgeable about the surrounding area as well as the local fauna and flora.

Tea and biscuits were also provided for us during the tour, Ben is a really easy going and funny guide. It was the best kayaking experience I've had! Thanks Ben!

Hey Steph, Excellent to meet you and your brother. I had such a fun day at "work" with you both. Thanks for the kind words and as always I'm so happy to hear clients have had a great time kayaking on the water with me. Take it easy!

Queenstown Sea Kayaks was the third company that I had to book with when my mate had visited me from Hawaii. The first two companies that I had booked with both cancelled on me because of reasons unknown. I wish I had just booked initially with Queenstown Sea Kayaks, but unfortunately their website came up third when I used Google. So naturally I went down the list one by one. I was very impressed when I made my booking, just minutes after I had paid I received a phone call from Ben (our kayaking guide), to warn us of the wet weather we were to expect the next day. Kayaking, rain... oh well, we'll get anyway, right! The entire excursion was just as impressive. Ben took us out to Moke Lake for calmer waters, as both my mate and I are pretty much new to kayaking. The weather was perfect and so was the scenery. Ben was a great guide and I highly recommend booking with Queenstown Sea Kayaks if you are looking for an adventure with great company. The tea and "ginger" biscuits was a huge hit during our little brekky. Cheers for the experience!

Hello, Thanks for coming kayaking with me! Always a pleasure when the rain doesn't damped people spirits! Sorry our website didn't show up first, I'm working more and more with the online side of things. I guess that is just as important as a nice tea and good biscuits! See you next time your back in Queenstown. Take care

We were booked to do a half day of kayaking on the Thursday afternoon but it was very windy out on lake wakatipu so we drove around to lake moke as an alternative. But the winds were gusty here too and Ben made the call not to go ahead. We were catching a plane out the following afternoon but Ben offered an early morning start so we could still get our kayaking done with time to spare. So Friday morning we returned to lake moke and had a wonderful time of it. They provide an extra layer of warmth to wear, take photos, a nice cuppa half way and even bought along an extra single kayak for my son who is an experienced kayaker. The lake and scenery was breathtaking and Ben and Heidi are great fun company. A lovely relaxing way to spend our last hours Queenstown. I love the small personal nature of this tour, the genuine enthusiasm from Heidi and Ben and eco-friendly nature of this activity.

Hi guys, Great to meet you and your family! Was a real pleasure taking you out on the lake, I know both Heidi and myself had a fun time "at work". Enjoy the rest of the warm weather! Cheers

Recently visited Queenstown from our home here in Wanaka so just a short jaunt over the Crown Range. Felt like doing something 'touristy' but still wanted to get away from the crowds so a trip out to an idyllic Moke Lake on a beautiful and sunny winters afternoon seemed like a great idea. Initially had reservations about going out kayaking as haven't been for a long time and had bad experiences with other companies in other parts of the world, however within five minutes of meeting our guide Ben and chatting it was plain to see we were in for a great day out.
The paddling was fantastic, great way to take in some scenery from a different and unique angle and Ben was helpful, informative on the local flora, fauna and cultural history as well as tailoring the trip to suit my fiance's and my paddling ability.
Would definitely recommend to people of all ages and skills, we also got some great photos to take back over the Crown Range with us from Ben, not to mention the fantastic brew stop and biscuits provided mid-paddle!
Thanks again!
