Unforgettable Skippers Canyon Tour went above and beyond expectations! We called really last minute and they were able to accommodate two of us in a private tour of the Canyon (which is absolutely breathtaking by the way!). We had freedom over our experience and we’re able to ask for specific spots to take photos. Our guide led us to the best photo spots. He was very knowledgeable and had impressive driving skills. Once we mentioned we were LOTR fans he made sure to point out filming locations and showed us images directly from the movie so we could see exact locations. Would definitely recommend to everyone!

This was the best thing we did in Queenstown. Absolutely amazing views. Spent @ 4 hours on the backroads w/ Del (4wdexpeditions.nz) in a super comfortable Range Rover. Great driving skills needed!! Learned a lot about the area, the gold mining era, the area now, etc. Fabulous 1/2 day outside the hubbub of downtown Queenstown (which is wonderful too).

Great experience with this kind of tours. My first experience riding on the van along the slim edges of the mountains thousands feet high. The views are fantastic
It's money worth spent.
Foremost, you will need a skillful driver and knowledgeable like Wolfy from Queenstown Heritage Tours. Bravo!

We did Skippers Canyon Tour with Queenstown Heritage Tours - all well managed by Wolfgang and Craig! Fascinating landscapes and photostops at the best viewing points. Good idea the picnic with tea, coffee and wine at the end, at the old schoolhouse.

Skippers Canyon was a place that really drew my interest when I started researching the Queenstown area. The scenery looked spectacular but the road looked terrifying. So I decided to hire this tour so that I could watch the scenery and leave the driving to a professional.

Greg was our driver. He picked us up right on time and was a very friendly fellow. Turns out he was also very knowledgeable about the history of Skippers Canyon and the S C road. As we drive through the canyon he gave us the entire history of the people, places and things that made the canyon far more than a pretty sight. It came alive.

My only disappointment had nothing to do with Greg or the tour company. It was the disappointment of seeing how mankind, in pursuit of gold really decimated the upper portions of the canyon.

The drive is certainly not for the faint of heart. There were several times when there were audible gasps from passengers as Greg pulled over to the side of the road near the edge to park. But we developed great confidence in Greg’s driving as the trip wore on.

Everything was a highlight. The ride on the van was so much fun. If you're leery of heights like me, just look straight ahead. You will see the most beautiful scenery imaginable. Our driver, Wolfy, was fun and knowledgeable. He kindly made a stop at our hotel for a toilet break and then dropped us off downtown.

This experience was the highlight of my week. The drive down skippers canyon road felt like a fun teaser to the adrenaline you get to experience on the Jetboat, not to mention it’s cool to learn about the gold mining history along the way too. The jetboat itself was phenomenal. Getting so close to the walls of the canyon kept my heart racing the whole time, and the 360 degree turns were a blast too. When we were finishing the ride, a little girl on the boat asked for one more spin to which the driver happily obliged 😊 highly recommend this experience!!

This tour was the highlight of our trip to Queenstown. The journey down Skippers Canyon had been on our ‘to do’ list for years and is one of those activities that makes New Zealand a bit different. Our guide, Wolfie was an extremely competent driver and a mine of information on the geography and history of Skippers. When we said that some of my wife’s ancestors were early settlers in Skippers he went out of his way to discuss the history of the settlement. We found the graves of my wife’s great great grandparents.
So many thanks to Wolfie; the tour was excellent and is highly recommended.

Unbelievable experience with steep narrow winding road and views are absolutely stunning. Thrilling experience which was one of our best tour in New Zealand. We booked two trips in one, Skippers Canyon with thrilling jet boat ride. The jet boat ride was the best and the tour was unforgettable. Not to be missed.
