This experience left us with mixed emotions.

We are on a two month honeymoon of New Zealand so as you can imagine, capturing every moment on camera is so important to share with close family and friends at home.

In the run up I had wanted to speak to the owner about questions o had re suitability of the trip and he said that everything was detailed on the website. I didn’t have the answer to my question, however, felt like I couldn’t ask.

On the day, the guide (a lovely American guy) was great. He even offered to take our pictures so we wouldn’t risk getting our phones wet or losing them. How kind, so we put our away and relied on his photos.

The experience was great, walk was good and the rafting was fun. However, what they don’t tell you is, once you have blown up your boat and travelled down a few rapids, there are a few grade 3 rapids (we were allowed to do up to grade 2) we had to then get out at carry the rafts to the next section of rapids, in some cases for a good 10 mins! Very difficult.

It was fun nevertheless, but consider this when signing up.

When we finished, we were the first to be dropped off and forgot to get the pictures from the guide.

I have since emailed on at least 3 occasions asking for the photos to please be forwarded in addition to a text message. All ignored!

Huw I guess you have my money so no need to be of help and send the pics! Disappointed and want to point out the poor ethics!

After 16 months living in Queenstown and doing it all, I can say that a day out with Packrafting Queenstown is without doubt the one trip you do not want to miss out on.

Thanks to the team for creating such an awesome and accessible experience and special thanks to Eliska our guide for her encouragement, infectious passion and everything she did in making the day so epic from the moment she said hello.

A scenic drive, a beautiful hike through one of NZ’s many stunning landscapes and a delicious lunch by the river all set the tone for a great time to come.

Eliska discussed risk assessment, manoeuvres and techniques and gave us a chance to get acquainted with our rafts and the river while giving personalised tips to really get us comfortable and confident before we set off down stream.

Rafting down the river surrounded by mountains and glaciers, adrenaline pumping as we manoeuvred through rapids and ear to ear grins for the entire day, this one will be hard to knock from 1st place in my list.

River addiction acquired!

The experience so nice, we did it twice. Signed up for one trip and had such a blast we signed up for another one. We were lucky to have Eliska was our guide both times and she’s incredible-professional, safety conscious, very knowledgeable and friendly. Food was great, pre trip communication was sound, and the actual experience was rad. Highly recommend.

We had a fantastic day hiking up the Rees valley, the views and the landscape were amazing. Our guide Pascal was fantastic from the moment he picked us up, friendly informative and entertaining. He gave very clear instruction on the use of the raft, a made sure we were safe and had a great time too. We would highly recommend the experience and Packrafting Queenstown.

I had a great time doing packrafting. The hike in was nice and relaxing, nothing too strenuous and I was blown away by the views the whole time. The river was quite calm the day I went, so the crosses were no issue. It was great to be provided lunch. The raft was amazing, including the little moment before heading down the river. Lovely blue water, nice speed, super fun. Definitely recommend, whether solo or with other people.

Fabulous family trip!

We are family of experienced whitewater kayakers who love our hard shell boats. This was a great introduction to the world of packrafts, which are very responsive and a lot of fun. The guides met us at our skill levels.

And there is a joy in boating in a glacial river where you can see the glacier where the river originates!

I did two-day trips with Packrafting Queenstown - one in Reese Valley and the other in Mt Aspiring. Thoroughly enjoyed both. I went on other tour groups around NZ where I felt like one of many tourists. The trips with these guys felt more like a personal experience. The tour guides were great! Very knowledgeable and never felt unsafe doing the trip.
