No show on a wedding booking
Nov 2020
Absolutely terrible company. A paid booking for my daughters wedding booking to guests to venue. and they didn't show up...much stress, delay and another company had to step in to get them there. They did a partial refund. Spoiling a great day. They did pick up guests at the end, but when the groom is waiting and you have not turned up to pick up guests ...not good. I would avoid dealing with them.

Great driver, personable experience

Leon was a wonderful host to us driving from Wanaka to Queenstown. He was kind, friendly and helpful. My three year old who is usually shy around people felt right at home and chatted away with him - kids are a great judge of character, I think. Also of note was that he was very gentle on a very long winding hill which was greatly appreciated. Would definitely book again.

What a great service
Mar 2020
Arrived in Queenstown for a few days, no car so reliant on public buses. Bought a bus card at the airport for $5, put $10 onto it and got a $2 ride into Queenstown. The next day my wife and i (we are able to use the same card) went to Arrowtown for the morning, again $2 each. What a fantastic service- there are not many things in Queenstown that are good value but this service is certainly one..

we booked a ride from wanaka to raspberry creek and the road was closed!
Feb 2020
we booked the bus as our car rental excludes going to raspberry creek. we found out later that our intended walk to rob roy glacier was closed due to erosion. Nothing about that on their website. we were staying on the way out so I mentioned that in my booking notes in case they could pick us up instead of driving into wanaka. They didnt reply. We figured out an alternative walk that we could do, and turned up in wanaka for our bus, only to be told that the road was closed because of the recent floods. The bus driver was very apologetic and said that he had asked the admin staff at queenstown to inform us, and also to take the raspberry creek option off their website. LAZY b---gers had got us to travel into wanaka for a service that they knew wasnt even on. and its so easy to take an option off a list on a web page. USELESS LAZY GITS.

Cheap and very satisfactory.

From Queenstown to Wanaka, I had to wait in front of the Clock Tower not far from my hotel YHA Central, the van was right on time, and the driver was very courteous and friendly. Back from Wanaka to Queenstown airport, the van was already waiting in front of the Log cabin lakefront thirty minutes before departure time, the van was full of passengers that time, the drive from Wanaka to the airport is a fantastic one with amazing scenery all along the way. Transfer both ways was cheap, reliable and very satisfactory.

Terrible public transportation

I should say I was so lucky coz I lost my shopping bag on the bus no 1 yesterday afternoon when i got off the bus in a hurry. Fortunately, the bus driver handed in my bag to their depot near the Queenstown airport. I really appreciated the bus driver. On the contrary, today when we returned from the Queenstown town centre, we took the bus no 1 again. I pressed the bell button before the bus reached the 88 Frankton road. However, the bus driver didn’t stop the bus and kept going until I yelled at him. We ended up getting off the bus at the next stop. I wouldn’t complain if it was just me coz I am still young. My parents were with me on the bus and we all carried some heavy groceries and they are both 70s. I couldn’t even image this would happen in the beautiful city. It was absolutely a negative impression to me. I would never recommend anyone to take the bus no 1 in Queenstown unless they have to. The bus driver was rude and tried to shirk his responsibility. I would never take bus no 1 in my life. The two stars are purely for the bus diver who helped us to find our lost stuff back.

Pretty rubbish but no other option.

I'm really fed up with Ritchies. The only reason I've given them one star is because most of the drivers are generally very nice. Ritchies pretty much have a manopoly on public transport especially in the Queenstown/Wanaka area which means they get away with providing an appalling service for unreasonable prices! Prices have arbitrarily jumped by over 25%. Customer service on phone has been inconsistent, rude and dismissive. Change of timetable even after we had already booked seats, then incredibly poor communication (apparently they called but signal is bad in NZ), no message left, no text, no email. Nearly missed a flight because of it! And any kind of complaint gets ignored or dismissed. Unfortunately they get away with being rubbish because people have no other option but if you have any other choice at all go for it, Ritchies are a nightmare!

On time and comfortable
Mar 2019 • Friends
Despite the negative reviews here, the bus to Wanaka was fine. On time and fairly efficient. Both drivers were nice, especially the younger female driver. This is a no frills coach so it is a small van with a wagon for storage hitched to the back of the van. The price was much cheaper than Intercity and departure and arrival times were similar. Stops along the way to Queenstown Airport and Cromwell. A good service to get from Point A to B.

Trip to Wanaka from Queenstown and Back
Dec 2018 • Solo
I took an early morning bus from Queenstown to Wanaka and a return in the evening. The shuttle was extremely comfortable, the bus left on time. The driver even provided with interesting information about all the places/touristy spots that we crossed, which was really good to know! Great service 😃
