Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Another Greek-cross footprint - they are unusual so to have two in Invercargill is super. Bell tower added but distinctive as is St Marys Basilica.

It is great that it is built out of bricks, but it is a strange looking church. We could not find a way in.

You won't be able to miss this if visiting SIT, and it's worth studying as this is a pretty Presbyterian church. Located on the main exit from Invercargill, not such an easy walk from the city centre though.

I did not have a chance to get inside, but this church is really nice one. I was amazed that this church was built with bricks!

Visited on Wednesday 2nd May. A very prominent building as you drive or walk along Tay Street made more striking because it's built with red bricks.

First Presbyterian has a special place in my heart. I rehearsed and performed with The A Capella Chamber Choir under DI Linehan there for three wonderful years. Wonderful acoustics and a friendly and warm place for a truly spiritual experience.

As a Presbyterian I found this church a must stop, look and photograph. Unfortunately we could not enter as it was being renovated so we could only walk around the outside and appreciate its beauty. The alcove to the fallen was poignant.

Impressive red brick edifice that is referred to on maps and in literature as First Church is in fact the first Presbyterian Church opened in 1915

We tried every door, but all were locked, the outside however is amazing and takes up a good size of the corner block. There are many doors with two main entrance doors. Very easy to access as it is in the city, just walk along Tay Street, East until you see it. Well worth a visit but perhaps try a Sunday as only one church had open doors in Invercargill, all others were locked. Wonderful architecture.

This unusual church provides a unique photo opportunity as I have not seen one like it in NZ. This unusual Romanesque and Byzantine-influenced church was designed by architect J T Mair and opened in 1915. Its hard to miss.
