Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Went to see Super Rugby Highlanders v Sunwolves. The first pleasure was a simple program for a gold coin donation rather than the ten bucks for a book full of ads that is sold at Australian games. One side of the ground is terraces, with grassy slopes at each end, fantastic. The crowd somehow managed to enjoy themselves and make plenty of noise without security guards everywhere, or idiots bellowing over the loudspeakers a'la Canberra Stadium. People are able to buy four CANS of full strength beer at a time, and yet everyone managed to enjoy themselves. Others could buy ice cream from a Mr Whippy van. The kids ran amok whenever there was a shot at goal, trying to catch the footy. Parents were happy to let them be kids. It was just the most fabulous night, proof that the 'safe', 'secure', sterile crap you get served up at bigger stadiums has made the game less enjoyable.
If you're a rugby lover and in the area, do yourself a favour and get to Invercargill for a game sometime.

Our local rugby stadium has a lot of charm. It is not too distant from the CBD. Hosts some very good games at Stags / provincial championship level, occasionally the Highlanders at the top level. Some great interschool First XV games over the years too. Sometimes hired out for other non-sport events also. If you are in Southland and get an opportunity to see a big match you will find the atmosphere congenial.

good value, drinks and food available, and different proced seating available. Stags shirts a bit pricey and they are no cheaper if you buy them in the shop at the stadium.

Invercargill’s Rugby Park is a nice little stadium within walking distance of the town centre. A fairly basic affair, there is one stand on the southern side, with standing room along the other edges of the pitch. The facilities are pretty basic, with vans and caravans holding the food and merchandise rather than fixed stalls. Certainly no problems there – the service was excellent. It was a bit of a let-down that Rugby Park had no screen to watch replays/decisions, and the score board was manual, with an analogue clock, so pretty basic stuff. Still, the stands were excellent and offered an excellent view of the pitch. A nice attraction in Invercargill, all the more because they love their rugby in Southland.

Easily located, Rugby Park certainly provides the home base for the Southland Stags. With the aquatic centre right next door what a great sporting location for both home and away players/supporters.
Great viewing from anywhere in the park, although bring a jacket to counteract the cold southerlies that sweep through.

Rugby Park meets the needs of a stadium. Many seating options including some covered seating. Various food options at rugby games and a great location close to town.

Bring a decent waterproof jacket and comfy shoes.

Generally runs for a few hours in the evenings on weekends. They often hold other events here as well.
