Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It is a monument to remember Boer War and involvement of NZ troopers in this South Africa war. However this also created the debates that preceded the erection of Invercargill’s impressive two-level South African War memorial was rich with issues of identity and appropriateness. By the way, this eye catching monument standing tall in the roundabout between Dee Street and Tay Street is easy to spot, and a landmark of the city centre. Have a walk at the surrounding roads, take nice photos for free, all good.

Visited on Wednesday 2nd May. This War Memorial takes pride of place at the corner of Dee and Tay Street so stop for a few moments to remember those who died for us.

We had no idea of the SA involvement and this is a fitting tribute. Shame that the square In front does not have lovely bars but a bloody 'Subway' but here are plenty up the street to have a drink.

1star in defiance of war politics forced upon well meaning boys. Any war is not good. Let us not forget that

It’s not massive, but the South African War Memorial, or more commonly the Troopers Memorial, fits nicely into the centre of Bank Corner and is a beautiful memorial to those who served. An excellent little attraction in Invercargill.

It was very interesting to find yet another memorial to what they call the "South African" War. As a South African myself I have to assume it to be the the Boer War where the "Mighty" British War Machine had to intern Boer Women and Children in Concentration Camps in order for the Boers to surrender as the British Military could not vanquish the very small number of Boers.

We found it very interesting to see a memorial in NZ dedicated to war in South Africa. It was a bit difficult to take a photo as the memorial was surrounded by two very busy streets.

A large city landmark incorpprating a clock face on all four sides. It can only be viwed from a distance as it is in the centre on a very busy roundabout connecting two major statehighways.
