Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My fiance Chris and I had an amazing time getting to work at the forge! The museum was amazing as well. Really cool seeing all the old gasworks and learning about the history of the place. The forge worked us in on an off day and we are truly grateful for that. We enjoyed it so much we are planing on trying to find a local place and group to get in touch with here in the states. I highly recommend going and taking a class on banging some metal into shape. Hard work, but so worth it! This a little late of a review but we visited the forge around March 2015.

An interesting part of Dunedin's history and not the restaurant other people have reviewed (which I'm assuming is Gaslight). Worth a visit for people interesting in these types of things.

As we had dined at the Gasworks in the past and my husband reckoned they had the best cooked fillet we decided to go there again. We don't know if they have changed hands or have a different Chef, but his steak was not a patch on previous visits there. so he was quite disappointed. Didn't have the same good choices on the menu either. Pretty average. Service was good though. Atmosphere, good.

Only open on Sundays from 12-4, this is a worthwhile diversion for those interested in industrial history or big noisy machines. My young kids found it a bit intimidating but I'm pretty sure when I take them back in a year or two they will love it.

Eat here - it's delicious. And their wine selection is great too. We had lunch here and the service was good.

Good, authentic forges are few and far between in New Zealand these days, but the original forge at the Gasworks Museum in South Dunedin is going strong! The forge is a real hub of activity and is well worth a visit. Drop in while you are visiting the fascinating Gasworks Museum and watch the smiths at work or book online for a blacksmithing course!

If you're in Dunedin, you must visit the Gasworks Forge. You'll meet the one and only Áine, gingersmith extraordinaire, she's a mad yoke. Here you will see the finest Valyrian steel being made into the most beautiful metal creations.
