We perform checks on reviews.
Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you are going to the station and the Sporting Hall Of Fame, this is upstairs opposite the museum. It is free entry and there are some surprisingly good pieces on display. It would be a mistake not to spend ten minutes or longer browsing the paintings and shop.

This can be something that is easily missed since it's located on the first floor of the Railway Station. Just head up the stairs from the entrance area and it should be just at the top of the stairs. There are signs at the bottom of the stairs for it.
You start off in the gift shop but you can wander through the multiple rooms of the exhibit. They have painting as well as sculptures. The rooms are quite spacious and full of natural light so it is quite a nice place to look around. The windows also look out to the railway tracks. There are a few paintings which are of famous landmarks so its a nice way to tick (or add) things off your list.

Free to enter it show cases the artwork of local artists, many of which are for sale and at some very reasonable prices. Just the one we both likes was a bit on the big size top go under my seat on the plane. We both loved the exhibition and agreed that some of the talent on show here was better than many of the paintings that are raved about in art galleries. Go have a look you may well could be surprised.

The local Art Society Gallery is housed upstairs in this long building. The first room is a gallery that one artist gets for a period of time. Currently it is Lorna Allan. Her work is so lifelike, the tree landscapes were especially beautiful. There is no photography so, that's that. I can't blame them, it is a persons intellectual and physical property. You move from room to room. There didn't appear to be any rhyme or reason on what is in what room, the eclectic placement worked well for us. There are art works that are not on the wall but sitting. What a talented community this is. What an excellent opportunity to provide this display environment. Well worth it!

This was a very pleasant find, just above the famous Rail Station. The gallery has excellent examples of the work of local artists and interesting crafts and gift items for sale. Well worth a stop.

We probably wouldn't have visited here if we hadn't had some time to kill in Dunedin. We are so glad we made the visit. The train station is a really cool building and this museum is a great place to spend a half hour or so. The local art is lovely and it's much larger than it looks. Highly recommended!

We enjoyed viewing the gallery and the gift shop where the prices were pretty reasonable. It wasn't large so we felt we could take in the art without being overwhelmed. We did purchase a 4 x 6 oil painting by one of the artists as a reminder of Dunedin, as it was very reasonably priced.

Situated on the second floor of railroad station. Lovely art of various mediums by local artists. Also a history of the society in hallway. Definitely worth a visit while visiting station. Open until 4 pm. Adjacent to gift shop. 10 -15 minutes to visit.

The Otago Art Society has a shop that features a wide variety of work from local artists. There are also other rooms that feature works from special exhibitions which generally run for a month. Workshops are also held from time to time, and there is the opportunity to hire a room for your own exhibition. There is a wide variety of works at any time and the exhibitions are inspiring. A great place to visit frequently!
