Four of us (two couples) booked a day trip with Bookatour during a cruise stop from the Silver Muse. From meeting point to drop-off, everything went very smoothly. We had Leeann as our driver and guide and she was delightful - a perfect mix of chatty, informative and professional. We visited Signal Hill, Dunedin city, Baldwin Street, Dunedin Station and a drive to the beautiful Otago peninsula. We stopped at a lovely place for lunch, with delicious blue cod and chowder. We would highly recommend Bookatour (via Bex) for any cruising passengers wanting a personal service at a great price.

Went on a great fishing trip to Moeraki ex Dunedin that Bex from Bookatour advertised for a great price. she picked us up in a comfortable 19 seater bus I must say this trip was fantastic she had sea legs for those that got a little sea sick cold water and beer even a BBQ on board fishing vessel.
We caught plenty of Blue Cod and the fishing crew were amazing and really helpful.
A great day had by all on board, thanks Bex you were a great tour guild and host for the day I would recommend this trip to everyone it was really a great day out and something different

Excellent value for money! Bex was very knowledgeable, interesting and funny. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to get a general overview of the city. The highlights are the world's steepest street and the magnificent view from Signal Hill

My husband and I had a fabulous day out with Bex, who custom-made a day trip for us. We saw all of the highlights of Dunedin City and then had a fantastic day on the Otago Peninsula, ticking off the major attractions and had a wonderful opportunity to meet some very interesting and talented locals. Bex is extremely well connected and has local knowledge of many 'out of the ordinary' activities and people and places of interest on the Peninsula. She relates very well to her clients and provides interesting, informative and funny tales of Dunedin and the Otago Peninsula. Bex is one of the best tour guides we have encountered both in NZ and overseas.

We got off the shop and walked into Port Chalmers for an ATM & bus into the city. We met Bex Wearing an eye-catching red T-shirt in front of a white van. She offered 15 of us a ride into downtown Dunedin for five dollars each. We got on and she narrated the route and gave us a lot of it and information about poor Chalmers and Duneden. Bex was engaging, informative, entertaining & drove well.
Bex mentioned that she provided hour tours for $35, so we stayed on. She took us past the University, Botanical Garden's, the octagon, and we got off at the steepest street. Bex explained how we can get the best pictures. She then took us to her fabulous overlook with views of the city and the water, taking pictures of all of us and explaining the animals and plants along the way.

I first wasn't messaged to say the meet up time was brought forward. Then what was offered such as "being let loose in town" and seeing the gardens didn't happen. The penguin sightings were a joke and nothing was mentioned about having to hike through mismatched, uneven steps to get to look at little more than a beach through a slot. Apart from a tour through Larnach Castle, stopping at a railway station and lunch the rest of the 9 hour trip was spent sitting in a bus looking at the same body of water the Otaga Peninsula from different angles. For the cost I would say it was pretty average and wouldn't recommend. Bex herself is lovely and easy to talk.to but needs to work on her tour plans for future groups.

Thanks for taking the time to review - wasn't the weather TERRIBLE when you arrived obviously Christmas Eve did not get the email regarding fine weather! It is a little impossible to take people to the gardens and lookouts when its pouring with rain and the fog has come in - and we certainly dont leave our clients loose in town - in fact we didnt even go to town this day so not sure why you wrote that ?...instead we did go for a lunch of a NZ fav Blue Cod which I remember you enjoyed so Im glad something was memorable! Wildlife bizarrely enough is just that - wild so yes we have to go to them not sit in front of a pool and hope to see them! at this time of year it is breeding season and penguins come and go to feed their young during the day often. There is never any guarantee of seeing wild life because of well exactly that - they are wild and not circus animals....the fact is you could have equally been there and seen 5 penguins waddling around but on this afternoon there was no wildlife. The Otago peninsula is a huge draw card for most and we went much further on this day than other tours extending our usual 6 hour tour into 9 hours at no extra charge when the weather perked up. I learnt along time ago as a guide there is no pleasing everyone and we are sorry you didnt find our day out AMAZING like most other do - guess it didnt help you were puffed with simple walking and had a nasty cold/hayfever which probably didnt help you feel great. FYI the charge to enter the penguins is $55 pp and the castle with a guided tour is $60 so out of the $260 pp the tour charge was only $150 for 9 hours which most find great value (except the weather didnt play our game) Ma Te Wa

My friend’s sister had kindly booked us a four hour guided tour of local sights around Dunedin. Bex was the most entertaining tour guide I have ever experienced. She made everything interesting and fun, from the first few minutes it was like hanging out with your best friend, very relaxed and yet we learnt so much history and information about the great variety of places of interest. Bex spent far longer than the allocated time with us. She is absolutely amazing and I wholeheartedly recommend her.

I use private tour guides all over the world but none have been as amazing as Bex. I was on a so called luxury tour of the South Island of NZ, unable to travel overseas due to Covid. Deciding to escape for a day at the end of the tour I contacted Bex who was able to take me and another person for the following day.
A four hour tour turned into a day tour, we were enchanted with the area, the wildlife and best of all the knowledge and sense of humour of our guide. We saw Dunedin in the best possible way and learnt so much about it and the history whilst having a lot of fun.
I was so impressed I arranged her to take my sister and friend on a tour the following week when they were in Dunedin. They were also full of praise and I have arranged to do a tour with her in the Caitlins early in the new year.
I wholeheartedly recommend her, she is brilliant.

What a find! We arrived late in Dunedin on a cruise ship and just thought we’d get a shuttle into town to look around the city. We were met by a lady who recommended a ‘quickie’ with Becks. An hour guided tour of the highlights. We had missed the first tour so walked down to check out the railway station which is well worth a visit. We then wandered up to the town hall to meet our tour. Very comfy little mini bus and Becks is an absolute treasure. So interesting to listen to stories about her home town. Highly recommend!

Yesterday we visited the township of Dunedin, our tour guide was Becks, she was absolutely 💯 amazing, she a local and knows how to make your day in Dunedin one you will remember and talk about, Beck.was easy to talk too, never rushed us and took us to all of this city's highlights plus more, her commentary on the history and highlights of the town was very informative, lunch at Iconic was decilious. We finished off the day with a trip.to.the castle that was stunning.
I would highly recommend Bookatour for anyone wanting something special for your visit to Dunedin.

Hi there, I am coming to New zealand with the radiance of the seas cruise 19th November to 29th November. dunedin on the 23rd etc. I am interested in a more personal experience of seeing these places. My interests are small tour of about 3.5 hours in Dunedin sightseeing and especially walking on beach with marine life to see hopefully (ive done a bit of research) love to swim with dolphins or similar in Akaroa and not sure about Wellington and Picton as to what to do. Can you help us please?
