Located on George St. it's just outside the downdown core and a worthwhile stop on your way to the botanical gardens, university or Baldwin St. If opened, you can't miss the large entrance doors which will be wide open. The 13th century Gothic architecture and coned tower are notable city landmarks (opened in 1876). I've been to my share of churches in North America & Europe but I've never seen a 90 degree organ to both sides of the alter. Some free organ concerts...check schedule.

Beautiful Gothic revival style church

Another stunning heritage building - you could be forgiven for thinking you were in England! Lovely interior with quite a lot of stained glass. Situated in a more modern area of town, it stands out on a busy corner.

Gothic Style

Located a little ways from the octagon, down george st is this beautiful structure, (with a 51m spire). To us it looks a little out of place as in recent times this street has become shopping st with a few malls popping up, still lovely to look at.

This impressive church is part of the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand. It was opened on November 5 1876. There was an earlier one which opened on May 6 1860. This Gothic church was designed by RA Lawson who also designed The First Church and Larnach Castle

Knox Presbyerian Church is the largest church in Dunedin. And that is saying something. Built in 1872, the style is totally Gothic (think 13th century) in its architecure. This lovely is so well maintained and presents such an amazingly striking visage that grabs all the attention. Loved it.

Amazing Architecture

Spellbound by the amazing Architecture in this amazing city, We had to pop in and have a look at the Knox Church as we have a Knox Church in Dannevirke, but, nothing like this one. The history held within these walls just blows one away

Beautiful Exterior

We didn’t get a chance to see the inside but the exterior architecture is striking and very distinctive. It’s a few blocks north of the Octagon on George St.

Nice Architecture
Nov 2018 • Friends
One of the many churches in Dunedin. This was the first one we came across as we were heading to the Rob Roy Dairy down the road.
The Church is quite ornate and the spire quite tall. They also had white flags against family violence along the fence when we were there.
We just looked around the outside to take photos and didn't go inside.
