About The Castle Cruiser
Dunedin's premier tour to Larnach Castle. A daily 4 hour tour $90A (5.5 hour tour on Cruise Ship Days from the Octagon @10:15AM or 6.5 hours Port Chalmers Pick-up/Return $105.00Adult/$55Child ages 5-14years @9.45AM) Transport is a luxury 13 leather seater bus -the "Eliza Jane"(named after Larnach's beloved first wife). Unlike our competitor/s we do not take groups larger than this to the castle (unless pre-booked as a larger group). Our aim is to make the experience as personal as possible. Group sizes greater than this make guiding through the castle far more difficult due to room sizes. In-depth commentary and a full history of the castle makes this tour well worthwhile especially when impressive and amazing views which the driver will invariably not be able to fully appreciate. Tour price includes transport, a city sights tour (stops at Larnach's Tomb/Baldwin Street - The World's Steepest Street/Otago University and the Railway Station) and all entrance fees to Castle and Gardens.

Mark was very entertaining and informative and we all thoroughly enjoyed our time in Dunedin on the tour. Mark set the bar pretty high and was our favourite of all our tour guides on our NZ holiday. Don't forget to pack your sense of humour and get your Australian vs Kiwi jokes ready

We were really glad we chose to use Castle Cruiser to visit Larnarch Castle. We were picked up from our motel which was fantastic and the driver was extremely knowledgable and we really enjoyed this. He has a very interesting sense of humour so if you’re sensitive or offended easily then this may not be the tour guide for you... But if you are looking for value for money, a knowledgeable tour guide, a few laughs at the expensive of others (mostly Aussies and women) and an interactive experience rather than most tour guides who drivel on for hours boring you to death, then this is most definitely for you. My mother and I had a great day and I recommend Castle Cruiser tours :)

We both are so pleased we booked this tour with Mark, as there were only four of us on his mini bus, which meant we were able to hear everything Mark mentioned, with his vast knowledge of Dunedin, and the wonderful visit to Larnach castle, topped off by a tasty meal in the dining area. I imagine some on this tour would not be able to understand Mark's warped sense of humour but, being Aussies we found his commentary quite amusing. Mark gave us a good look around the city, and we enjoyed the visit to the remarkable, historical old cemetery, and then topped off with the visit to the wonderful old castle, with its amazing history. Mark gave us a tour of the lovely old railway station, and explained in detail the history of the place, and that at one stage the platform was the longest in the world. The gardens at this railway were a sight to behold, with such well kept, colourful planting over a large area. I would recommend this trip to everyone, except those with no sense of humour, as they would be scratching their heads, wondering what was going on.

Cheers for the fantastic review. Much appreciated. I'm glad you could understand where I was coming from. Nothing said to be taken to heart , just said to have a bit of playful banter. Just for the record though I never, ever, at any stage, once said that the railway platform was the longest in the world. What I said it was it was the longest in the Southern Hemisphere when it was built. ;-) Don't worry if it was really the longest I would have told you that though. No worries there. lol. There will be a few pedants reading your review and thinking that I don't know my eggs, so I just had to set the record straight. I hope the rest of your trip went well. Until next time. Ka kite - Haere ra! Mark The Castle Cruiser
