The Otago museum, while not as impressive as the Otago Settlers museum, is well worth a visit as it's full (very full) of interesting and diverse pieces. I got a sense walking around that the main aim is really to show off as many items as possible, understandable as they are indeed some fine items to display and there will... More

Went on a day it was pouring! Lots of interactive things for children, a large South Pacific cultural exhibit and a wonderful planatrium as well.

A fascinating museum with lots to offer for all ages. 3 levels of natural and cultural history exhibits. Hands-on activities and interactive areas to explore. A great place to spend a few hours. And it's free!

We really enjoyed walking through the museum as there was plenty to see. The museum covers the history, the culture, and the wildlife of Dunedin and New Zealand. We took around 2 hours to walk through all exhibits.

This is a great museum, everything you wanted to know about early NZ, wild life, birds or the geographical features, is well presented and easily accesible. Children are well catered to. Highly resommend and leave a donation (entry is free).

I know another museum!! But this museum is worth a trip, like others in NZ it's free, but we always leave donations, who knows one day some bright politician may decide it's too expensive to keep giving this away. The museum is well organized and has some great exhibits of earl NZ inhabitants, both animal and human. There's something for... More

We went here after the Otago Settlers Museum so compared the two. Unfortunately this one was not as impressive as the Otago Settlers.

If you are in Dunedin and are keen on learning something new, don't miss this chance! The entrance is free of charge and you could spend a whole day visiting the museum, there's so much to see. There is even a victorian collection of stuffed animals, a bit creepy to me but very interesting nonetheless.

We found ourselves with a morning to spend in Dunedin. I would say make this one of the "must do" in the town. Great museum packed with culture and history and the Planetarium experience was a definite 5 star.
