Now I have to make another trip back to Dunedin so I can spend at least half a day here. I honestly expected much smaller exhibits and a more local/rural feel, but this is as good a museum as many larger cities have. Great stuff...More

I didn't really want to go to another museum, but it was pouring outside and we came in. GOOD IDEA! It was wonderful. There were so many different topics of life covered here that we really enjoyed it.

So quintessentially Dunedin - a fabulous well-thought out museum in the middle of the city and yet you can get a park practically at the front door! We went to the planetarium for one of the shows and what a great facility that is. We...More

We spent a delightful couple of hours in this wonderfully designed museum. The release of the butterflies in the tropical forest was a great sight. There were activities to suit all ages. It was laid out so well that it didn't seem crowed at any...More

The butterflies were very good- possible better than Melbourne zoo. Hands on, and the release at 11 am of all the new stock was a hit, with a very informative lady giving information. The kids room was good for a little, play and explore, and we...More

This was a nice museum with very eclectic collections (natural history, geology, culture, Asian objects, etc.). I would recommend a visit if you have already seen the Settlers Museum (number 1 in Dunedin for me).

The staff here are wonderful but they really didn't help us when we asked about fees. Apparently the only "fee" areas are the planetarium and the butterfly exhibit. We did pay to go into the butterfly exhibit (by accident) and found it fairly interesting. Not...More

I was not blown away by this museum. It's a bit of a ramble with some very old galleries (Pacific Peoples) that looked well past their use-by date. Our son enjoyed the hands-on Discovery area and we all enjoyed the butterflies - but it was...More
