We spend roughly 2 hours here visiting basically everything. The amount of stuff to see is very good and so is the quality. It is always interesting to see the history of the native Maori people and to learn more about their culture.

The museum boasts an beautiful butterfly room, huge assortment of antiquities and a reasonably priced cafe. (I'm a Uni student and I still go there for my daily coffee.) If your visiting Dunedin, it cant be missed.

Huge museum with an amazing collection! The museum boosts histories of the people, the land, as well as different species of animals, local and a huge collection of animal specimen on display. Lots of the museum is free, and the cafe is awesome and large....More

What a wonderful museum. Full of history and treasures. Loved the Egyptian room with vases nearly 5,000 years old and mummies. Into the butterfly room where you are in a rainforest with a thousand butterflies flying around you by the waterfall and landing on you....More

A really lovely place to spend an hour or two. I have visited the museum a number of times and always find it a great experience. They also have a cafe indoors that appears to cater for all food needs.

We did have a fun time out, but things in the discovery centre didn't work that we wanted to have a go on. Was a heap better when we went last year.More

Everyone raves about Te Papa in Wellington. I've been there, and honestly, this little gem in Dunedin is pretty great as well. There are enough free (donations requested if you feel so inclined) exhibits to keep you busy for a few hours or you can...More

Had a lovely evening at the Planetarium during Matariki. Was wonderful to relax in the comfortable seats and be dazzled and educated about the starry skies.
