Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

First visit was years ago so went back to spend longer and were not disappointed with the displays. The chap at reception was not very outgoing at all just took our money, no smile.... perhaps he was a volunteer but not great for creating a good first impression.
I do hope they will keep information updated, there were several legends who are now deceased but no year of death added. .Love how there are so many articles donated that athletes have worn or used in creating their records. For a small country we can be so proud of these amazing sports people

While many of the items are very interesting this needs an update - time seems to have stopped decades ago...

A small but very interesting and well presented museum within the Railway station. We had a lovely chat with the gent behind the counter who was very knowledgeable. Not surprising really as it turned out he was someone big in the NZRU a while back, lovely man with a superb kiwi sense of humour. excellent value.

What they had was great but there wasn't that much to see. Only relevant for NZers, obviously.

We didn't have much time before another tour so we didn't want to pay an entry fee. It wasn't large so if we had more time we probably would have paid and gone in.

On a recent visit to Dunedin a Kiwi friend took me to the NZ Hall of Fame. Coming from Australia I was looking forward to learning more about NZ sport and sports people, as all we ever hear about across the ditch are the All Blacks and I was sure there would be more to NZ sport than just this great sporting story, as fantastic as it is. Alas, it was not to be as there was no way I was going to hand over my hard earned coin to the rude women on the counter. After receiving no acknowledgement whatsoever after standing in front of her for what seemed an eternity, we finally asked for information regarding admittance and it was all she could do to lift a finger and point to a placard on the desk with some limited information, the fact that she managed to do this without once looking up at us defies all levels of arrogance and rudeness. The kicker came when my friend emailed her boss to report his embarrassment at this blatant display of rudeness in front of his Aussie guest only to be told he was out of the country and too busy to reply and would get back to him in due course. Eventually a text response came back (not even the courtesy of a phone call) to say case closed, nothing to apologise for. I am not sure if this women is paid or a volunteer but if she hates her job that much she should either be fired or kept out of the public eye, maybe working back office. An opportunity missed for both myself and Dunedin. I am sure Dunedin and NZ are more that this women's rudeness, so I will not hold the country responsible for the actions of one elderly women and her complacent supervisor. The rest of my trip was blast and I will continue to provide feedback, this is the only negative experience. Go the ABs and all those other teams I may never know about. SM Adelaide.

Took the boys here (15 & 12) and they were also fascinated with all the facts of great NZ sportsmen and women.
i would recommend this to anyone interested in sport. All the sports are covered with interesting facts about the famous New Zealanders.
It is located in the beautiful Dunedin Railway Station, so you can have a wander around the station also.

A fascinating museum of New Zealand sports elite. The displays and information are detailed and extremely well set out. Allow plenty of time to enjoy this experience set in the historical Dunedin Railway station. Entry fee is family affordable-staff friendly and informative.

This museum of sports shows many Otago people plus other New Zealanders who have done well in their particular sports. There is an extensive section about rugby and the All Blacks through the ages then sections about many other sports. There are many interesting exhibits especially the kayaks of gold medalists at the Olympic games.
