Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We travelled to Dunedin just to visit this swimming pool. DS aged 8, loves the hydroslides (check website for opening hours). The family pool is brilliant, the lap pools are really good too. Plenty of family changing rooms. Highly recommended.

It took me a while to get used to Moana Pool and like it, mainly because it can be so busy at times, which isn't great for a not-great swimmer. However, having trialled different times/days, I've found a nice quiet schedule for swimming here and am liking it more. When I was a parent to a young-un, we used to love the wave pool and the entire area around it. The hydro slide was also a hit, although it was an added expense then (not sure if it still is). Female changing rooms don't seem to have changed over the years but there are about some areas of open showers, plus about six private shower/change rooms, which is nice. The staff at the front desk are always friendly, and overall, the cost isn't too bad for a stay as long as you want to. I use a 12-swim concession option, but there are much cheaper per-swim options and some include the gym, which I haven't used.

Such a shame that a huge complex like this does not have a sauna and steam room - much needed in cold Dunedin! Most public pools in the north island have this - why not Dunedin ??

Such a shame moana pool refuse to install a sauna and steam, most other pool complex in NZ have this and it’s WAY OVERDUE here in Dunedin- a jacuzzi does not serve same purpose ! It’s full of toxic chemicals - sauna & steam eliminates them !
The swimming pools themselves are good, diving pool is good. Hydro side great fun.. but this place is FULL of kids 24/7 and seriously needs an adults only zone / health suite with sauna & steam plunge pool & relax area. I’m sure people of Dunedin would pay extra to use this - essential in a cold climate like Dunedin.
Also, the changing rooms here need a serious update, they are old, cold, and dirty and full of noisy kids!
Come on moana get onto it !

It's the July school holidays here in NZ at the moment. I took my 9 year old daughter to Moana Pool and due to the rudeness of the staff memeber who served us when we bought our tickets, we had a bum experience.
I understand staff might be stressed with the amount of kids and families coming to the pool in the school holidays, but it's no excuse to give poor customer service. Staff member was super rude, abrupt, didn't explain anything.

It was cold and wet, and after a day of eating (Christmas day), we needed something active - this place was great! The hydroslides became like a hamster wheel - up, down, up, down, up, down... Little trips to the lazy river (which is where most people were) and the diving boards for variety. What a great pool so central to town.

I’ve been visiting Moana regularly for the past three weeks with my 10 month old daughter. We’ve been going super early and it has just been awesome!! We’ve loved bobbing in the leisure pool which at that hour is mostly empty. The staff are all friendly and helpful.

One point off because the family change rooms are really average. There are cubicles for changing but the showers in them jet water out so hard and fast that they’re unable to be used. The water hurts my skin let alone my infant daughters skin!

I find the facilities at Moana pool to be average in comparison to other pools around the country. It is however well staffed with life guards stationed at every post. We took my 3month old daughter along and the temperature of the water is sufficient and has a nice paddling pool that parents can sit in as well. The family changing rooms however are a disgrace they are disgusting it’s as if they never get properly cleaned. Only hosed off. Something needs to come of this because its quite foul. The women’s changing rooms are a lot nicer however they don’t really facilitate mothers and younger children would be nice if they put something in there for mothers.

Fabulous place to go for a swim. My family really enjoyed it. Lots of seating for non swimmers. Lovely setting outside to use the barbeques. The hydroslides were the BEST in New Zealand especially the turbo!! The lazy river was awesome too!! Friendly and helpful staff. It is an oldie but a goodie. :)

Despite its age, Moana pool continues to be a good place to swim for me and the rest of my family, I’ve grown up swimming there over the years and I’ve had a great time every time.
With different types of pools for everyone, I highly recommend this pool if you find yourself in Dunedin.
