Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We toured Vogel Street with Athol. He gave us personalized attention on this one hour tour of the old warehouse precinct of Dunedin which is experiencing a renaissance. It was an extremely interesting tour that we highly recommend if you are interested in an urban experience off the beaten track and away from the hordes of tourists. Athol was well informed.

Thanks very much for your feedback. It'll be interesting to see how development takes shape on the waterfront. Best regards, Athol.

Our small group loved our unique Laneways guided walk with Athol, in fact it was the highlight of our trip to Dunedin! You could sense Athol’s passion for his city and we enjoyed learning about Dunedin in the most engaging way possible - by chatting to a local. Our guide was very knowledgeable and well prepared with historic photographs, newspaper articles and personal anecdotes to share. Highly recommend a walking tour with Athol on your next visit to Dunedin.

I did the two-hour tour - which is the longest and most comprehensive one available - with tour guide Athol in late February 2020. Athol is a fantastic guide who knows the city inside out. The tour covered both the historic part in the city centre and they newly developed wharehouse district a bit - but not much - further. I certainly learned a lot about Dunedin's city evolving city landscape. Dunedin has arguably the most character among cities in NZ and exploring its past and present is extremely worthwhile. Athol's tour is a great starting point for doing so. It can also be recommended for people having lived in the city for a while.

Thanks very much, Patrick. Yes, sometimes we can tailor our routes a little, when that seems appropriate. Thanks again, Athol.

We were lucky enough to catch the tour just after it had started. It was a fantastic introduction tot the city. It is not to be missed as the guide Athol was clear and entertaining. A coffee break was included which was great as we all chatted about what we had seen and were going to do. The pace was relaxed but we covered a lot of sites.

We enjoyed an informative walk around Dunedin with Athol. It was a very cold day and it was raining but we enjoyed ourselves and learning more about Dunedin. The churches were lovely and we had a lovely coffee stop and ended at the wonderful rail station.

We came to Dunedin mainly to see the wildlife on the Otago Peninsula and it was wonderful indeed but the city of Dunedin was an unexpected gem, with fascinating, well maintained architecture and numerous boutiques and restaurants. The City Walks tour is well worth the time and money. Athol is a very sharp guide whose comments blend history, politics, art and architecture.

Our 2 hour walk of the inner city was a very worthwhile introduction to Dunedin. It was highly informative, interesting and most enjoyable. Our guide Athol was passionate about the city's architecture and history and could answer a whole range of questions about anything. Good company.

Athol Parks as a tourguide has a lot to tell about history&present development of Dunedin and I liked listen to him on this tour. We actually didn't walk long distances as the buildings he showed me are all within 1km reach of the Octagon but we still spent more than 2 hours together. I really appreciated that he offered the tour despite me being the only guest on that day. And he took all time needed to answer all my questions plus drinking a coffee in a bar together.
