This was a top class excursion with Russ our tour guide and driver. We were in a small minibus which was very comfortable and meant that when we got out at various stops it was quick and easy to get off and on. Russ was born in Dunedin and therefore had some great insights and knowledge of the local area.

We booked this tour as our stop on a cruise ship. When the cruise ship changed the arrival time, Tourworks reached out and adjusted our tour time to fit our itinerary. Russ picked us up in a van and we had a wonderful afternoon exploring all the highlights of Dunedin. We didn’t feel rushed and felt we made the most of our time in port. My favorite part was the trip off the beaten path to see the seals on the beach. Thanks Russ for a great day!

Our guide, Russ, was friendly and happy to answer questions.
This 3 hour tour provided a good overview of the highlights of Dunedin. Although it was primarily a driving tour, there were numerous opportunities to get photos and stretch your legs. We had 7 in our group.

Hi there thanks for your review. We try to spend as little time as possible in the vehicle but the only way we can show people the city highlights and peninsula in the time available is to drive. I hope you enjoyed your visit with us here at Tourworks NZ. Cheers Russ.

Sadly because the tour started later than usual we ended up cramped in the mini bus for well over 3 of the 5 and 1/2 hours possibly more. Our guide promised at the beginning that he wanted us to spend as little time out of the bus as possible, it was the complete opposite. So boring.
We saw no seals, no penguins. Just sheep and ducks. We were literally driven around back and forth. The train station was a none event. The university lovely building but he wanted us to look at the clocktower there.. a local came by and said ‘ what are you all looking at?’ We replied ‘the clocktower’ the local thought it was hilarious.
The castle ..well the cafe was closed, it was bleek and raining and as you dont actually go into the castle it was a big fail.. nothing to see.
After 4 hours on a bus we still had to drive half an hour to the penguin place and half hour back to the ship. But it was bleek freezing and nothing to see.
Didnt get back to the ship till 7pm and couldnt wait to get off the crammed bus.
He would have been better to halve the tour rather than insist on doing the whole tour when there wasnt time or anything to see.

Amazing tour of Dunedin..l got a bit of everything… and that wasn’t only the weather. City tour, Lanarch castle and then wildlife!
Russ was informative, clearly loves his city , and the small size tour was perfect.

The trip was fabulous. Russ was a great guide with lots of information for us. He was happy, cheerful & informative. If he had to make a change to the itinerary he informed us. I saw everything that I wanted to see & more.

We stopped in Dunedin while on our cruise, but with only one day to look around, we decided to come back to Dunedin and visit the Otago Peninsula. As another reviewer said, Les, our driver/guide, was the best. He picked us up promptly at our hotel and showed us around. It was kind of cold and windy and rained some early on, but by the time we got to Larnach Castle, it was starting to clear up. Then we went to Penguin Place and that was truly special, especially seeing how well cared for the penguins were at the hospital and how the staff tries to provide nice nesting areas for the yellow-eyed penguins and blue penguins. We also saw seals. Then at the Albatross Center, we saw 4 albatross flying through the sky. It was really special. We highly recommend the small group tour.

This tour is run by a father/son company. We were in a small van with only 3 people. Met promptly at port, taken all over the area with meaningful information. Very flexible to visitors' interests. A very enjoyable time and I highly recommend.

We booked a half day city tour of Dunedin through directly through this company.
The guide, Paul, arrived very promptly we were then off to see Dunedin.
There was only 4 of us on the tour and Paul was very knowledgeable and attentive throughout. Also had a good sense of humour.
We were taken around all the points of interest and as we were a small group we were always at least 1 step ahead of the larger tour buses.
The tour had a really relaxed feel to it and I would highly recommend.

Russ picked us up at the dock at the agreed upon time and the tour went great. He was very flexible about what and where we wanted to go and very knowledgeable about Dunedin. highly recommended!

Our ship arrives at 9 AM on March 15 would we still be able to make this tour?
About what time would the tour conclude?
Do we actually get to go inside the railway station and some of the other sites listed?
What is your cancellation policy?
If the ship decides to change course and not stop at this port is there a refund or partial refund?

Hello Tina,
Thank you for your message.
Yes, we can do the tour on the day you are here. We will wait for you to disembark the ship for our departure. I have your ship arriving at 8:30am so if you try and get off the ship swiftly after docking then we will do the whole tour and have you back at Port for 4pm.
We would definitely enter the Railway Station and take some time there, it’s a beautiful building. We visit many sites on the tour and will let you know which ones we recommend entering on the day. At Larnach Castle we pay for garden entry - if you would like to enter the castle we would negotiate that on the day.
Our cancellation policy is detailed on our website. If your ship cannot enter Port for any reason we would refund 100%.
