We did the 'Redemption' escape room, and we were impressed with the set-up and flow of the activities. We loved that this escape room was doable with two people. It had a unique element to start the room, and some tasks that were true to its time setting (World War One). The old prison gave the escape room the right amount of ambience and urgency. The activities were easier than other escape rooms and may have helped to be more complex, however the amount of challenges was appropriate (especially for two people).
I would recommend the 'Redemption' escape room, and I trust that the other escape rooms offered by Escape Dunedin would be enjoyable too!

We booked an afternoon session of the "Espionage" escape room with 2 adults and our 11 year old son (although his reading age is 14 and this is probably about right for the game). He is a big world war follower and we thought the storyline and mix of puzzles in this room (and the adjoining rooms) really challenged us. Helpful hints came up on the screen when we got seriously stuck which helped the game move along, while some rooms (like the laser beam challenge) were physically hard and that broke up the constant "thinking" for those who like to be physical. I think this would be super as a trip for people with teenagers in the family, or groups of young adult friends. I know a lot of people do it as a business team building day too. But I felt it was worth the money despite the short excursion time.

"Redemption" is the best escape room I've ever done. The story is integrated with the history of the prison, the puzzles are challenging and unique and the atmosphere is incredible. It was a truly epic experience, one I can't wait to repeat with their other escape rooms.

A couple weeks ago my friends and I completed all the rooms escape Dunedin had to offer. We loved every second of each game. Each room used the space they had available wisely and every puzzle made sense and fit within the theme/storyline of the room. A big ups to the game designers for creating rooms that kept all of our team (some of us had completed over 30 rooms, some were only experiencing escape rooms for the first time!) captivated. A huge thank you to Dominic for being a great host everytime we came in! We can’t wait to come back down to Dunedin to try out new rooms in the future.

Extremely fun and challenging. Very well set up and thought out!
Perfect team building for work or just a group of friends.
Would definitely come back and try another one of the rooms next time!

Friend staff, fun activity. Super easy to deal with. Not our first time here, won’t be our last.
It’s hard to go into too much detail without spoilers. The escape rooms are well balanced in regards to their difficulty. The scenarios are well thought out, and the location (old Dunedin prison) is pretty cool.

Awesome time doing the Escape quest "Redemption". We went as a family with our teenage boys and we were handcuffed in separate cells which we had to break out of first before having to "Break" out of the jail using the puzzles and clues. A great hour of family team building and laughs, staff super friendly and it is actually in the old Dunedin prison, highly recommend.

Four of us girls from Dunedin, Auckland & Perth decided on a little adventure experience while catching up.
We chose to do the Redemption session at the Prison... and so pleased we did... it was so much FUN.
Kate greeted us and looked after us throughout. She gave us a fabulous introduction and briefing, explaining about the prison and what we were "letting ourselves in for"... handcuffs and all.
She was extremely professional but so warm and welcoming.
I don't want to give anything away so will just say the experience in itself was fabulous, interesting, challenging and really made you think outside the box.
It's also amazing that what one person can't see there is always another one of you who can figure it out... really a team bonding experience.
The game itself was well put together and love the way the clues all lead you slowly towards the ultimate goal ... to ESCAPE!!
Well done. We will be back next year!

Four of us went here and tried the escape room called Espionage. We enjoyed the different challenges and managed to escape in 73 minutes. Some escape rooms, especially in the UK, have a strict time limit of 60 minutes but we were pleased to have had the opportunity of succeeding and escaping. It is a fun experience and clues are given if you looks as if you’re getting too stuck. Incorporating the prison cells within the the game was an entertaining twist. I can fully recommend this experience and we’ll be trying out more escape rooms in the not too distant future.

We’d never tried an escape room before, and now we’re hooked! This one was in an incredible setting, and we started out being handcuffed in a locked cell in a locked room. To be able to play within the original cells was amazing.
