Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

So much fun to walk this beach. Be on the lookout for sea lions who are buried in the sand. They come up onto the beach to sleep and sometimes you can't see them because they cover themselves in sand.

I went with my brother, sister in law and nephew as it was my first time in Dunedin. It was a great day walking and I got to see the beach. It was very noise as the waves hit the rocks. Brother meet someone he work with and they chatted as I go to look around. I will come again and go to the other beach my brother told me about as we need to get my nephew back home.

We booked a table here as we were staying just around the corner and didn’t want to drive anywhere.
We were so glad we went. The service was great and the staff super friendly and accommodating to our needs.
We would definitely recommend this cafe/restaurant. The only downside is that we would have gone again the next night but it closed at 5pm

St Clair Beach had a quirky feel to it and the area was pretty and interesting but the beach fell well short of being up there with the best beaches. Worthy of a visit , but limited parking

Gorgeous beach. Rough at right end but better to the left. Windy and lots of big waves. A few people in the water briefly near the shore.
Good for a walk.
Lots of cute restaurants on the right end.

We stayed here for one night. The beach was filled with lots of young people, the roads surrounding pack full of cars and the odd boy racer. Very hard to find a park and people not very patient which was a shame.

We stayed at Dunedin for several days to visit some of the more popular sights.

St Clairs Beach came up as one of the best beaches in the area.

The postives are that the residents of Dunedin are lucky to have a beach so close to town. It probaly only took 15 minutes drive from the centre of the city.

As far as beaches go I would rank it slightly above average. There a lot of large boulders around and when we visited in the afternoon there wasnt much beach left due to higher tide.

The area was very quiet when we visited with only about three restaurants. Being just after Christmas only one was open.

I guess I am spoilt as Australia has so many nice beaches to visit.

Highly recommend - Great, unique beach and promenade with amazing eating places nearby and warm saltwater pools at the end. Unfortunately most eating places closed over holiday period.
