Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I love books and I love this place. I do a yearly trip to Dunedin just to spend a few hours perusing the stock in the store (which is not available online = clever move). While I have particular interests I always leave with titles I never knew I wanted. What more do you need?

Very well curated selection of books, all excellent. A very wide range of book types, fiction and non-fiction. Not just the latest best sellers but everything - science, nature, philosophy, novels, history, etc etc. Books from the very old to the very new.

Ordered a book online and Tessa was very friendly and helpful in completing the sale. The 2 volume set by Catlin arrived at my address in Oregon in just one week and in mint condition. Thanks to everyone there!

It might seem silly to you to refer a place as a 'gourmet' bookshop, but not so in this case because this really is a special collection here and there are over a 300,000 titles available. The web site and advertisement notes that this is the largest antiquarian and secondhand bookstore in New Zealand with the largest online presence in Australasia.
I can't confirm if they actually have that many books, but it certainly is a big place, so that claim can't be ruled out either. I was there for nearly there for two hours with my jaw on the ground because the variety and stuff available was as good as Toronto (hometown) and they even had a couple John Buchan books I was looking for that are not easy to find. I had to pull myself out of here because I might never leave.
I definitely recommend this place, but keep in mind that not all the books available here on available to look at on the floor. If you're hear it's because you're either a book lover or your shopping for one so either case this is the place to visit, but try the online store also as it's the easiest/fastest why to find what you're looking for. Happy reading!

This is a great second hand bookshop. Everything is well organised so it is easy to find books. They also have a large store out the back, and they can check quickly for any particular book you might be looking for. They were able to easily find several books I was looking for. We didn't have much time for browsing on this trip, but I hope next time we visit Dunedin we will have more time to spend in this bookshop.
