Great place for small children. We bought a family ticket which included animal food, a really good sized bag! Going in December there were lots of babies which the littleys loved. The highlight was seeing 2 day old rabbits, we were very lucky to just be there when the keeper was checking on them. Other animals included cows, alpacas, goats, rabbits, all very gentle. Unfortunately weren’t able to do pony rides as the wind was getting up and that doesn’t suit them. But we plan to return and just do that.
The only food available is at the entrance and is limited. Best to either take a picnic or time your visit to mid morning or afternoon. Plenty of parking available.

Taking the long drive out to this farm park we were expecting something else I think. It wasn't cheap for entry and we were there for approx 45 mins. There is a wonderful play area and petting area for the children that they could get in and pat rabbits and some lambs. Unfortunately we wouldn't recommend on a windy day, we were continually copping gusts of gravel and saw dust in our eyes and there was a canvas type sheet over the chicken pen that was flapping and spraying us in animal excrement. I know being on a farm you could expect to deal with a certain degree of animal poop however this was disgusting and uncomfortable. At one point I crouched down and got showered in it, and then we had to wait for a break in the wind before we could leave the petting pen as bucketfuls of yucky poopy water that stunk terribly would get sprayed over us trying to get out of the gate to the pen. It was everywhere. Totally unpleasant. Some of the animals although tame were a little full on for my younger kids and they were charging at us very quickly either up to the fences and in area a gate had been left open so they were charging out through the gate and up to us. While I could handle this, I left pretty quickly with 2 screaming and terrified kids who were covered in animal crap. Our experience wasn't great unfortunately and for what we paid I was dissatisfied.

This is a pretty basic and small farm animal park. It is great if you have younger children and don't want to spend hours there, as you can get around all the animals pretty quickly.

The animals all look happy and fairly well taken care of.

It is quite cheap to get in, compared to the other animal parks in Christchurch.

There are pony rides available at various times and you can get into a pen with the bunnies.

There is a wee café there which sells a few things if you feel the need for a refreshment.

We enjoyed our visit there with a little bubba as you can feed the animals out of your hands and see a good variety of them.

I took my 3 year old granddaughter and we absolutely LOVED it. We were able to feed all the animals and get really close to to the larger animals too. My granddaughter was able to do a pony and donkey ride. We took a picnic basket and bought nice coffee's there at their container shop.

That's great thanks fionag544. The goat kids are always a hit at this age, the bonus is they grow up to wonderfully entertaining adults who then raise the next batch of cheeky kids.

My fiance and I decided to take our 10month old daughter to see the farm on a couple of recommendations from friends. It did not disappoint us. For $10 adults. Free for 2 years younger or 5 for 2-14 year olds it is cheap. $2 feed for the animals which was a good cup full. Some of the animals you could enter into the pens to feed and pet like Alpacas, sheep/lambs, goats, baby goats. There was other animals there including donkeys and ponies, pigs and boars, chickens and exotic birds along with guinea pigs. Was a good way to spend a good hour there. Was worth the visit! It is in the NZA trade academy on the corner of Mcleans island road.

Spent hours here feeding and watching the farm animals. My daughter enjoyed the pony ride although I thought it was very expensive for 10mins and the guy taking her look liked he just couldn't be bothered which was a shame.😕 Apart from that we took lunch and enjoyed sitting at the picnic tables watching the animals.

Hi Sonya, I'm pleased you enjoyed your time at our park and spent some quality time by bringing a picnic. I'm sorry the pony ride experience was not up to standard, I am very late with the replies as I have only just taken on the tripadvisor role. If you do return then please ask for Suzie the farm park manager and we would like to give your daughter a more enjoyable experience.

Hi andrewenoemiaf I am sorry to read this review of your experience, as I see it is a while ago and I apologise for the tardiness. If you would like to try again then I invite you to make yourself known to Suzie our Farm Park Manager. We do have many staff at times as we run with a volunteer system to keep the prices down.
