First time here and a great market with a lot of stalls. Lovely setting by the river and the historic Riccarton House. Wonderful products from dog treats, cheese, flowers, porridge to vegan goods.

Small enough to get through in an hour or so, but sbig enough to have a wide variety of amazing foods from local vendors, My friends and I hit up the farmer's marlket on our way out of town and stocked up with all kinds of stuff (venison and lamb sausage, a variety of homemade pies, beer from a local brewer, and a selection of cheeses) for our journey around the South Island.
It was crowded, though not overly so, but parking was very limited so consider biking or taking an Uber if you can. We lucked into a good spot, but had to wait our turn to park.

This is one of the best markets we have been to anywhere. It is a permanent well set out area of shops, cafes and interesting stalls etc. It is always busy and vibrant with lots of food choices.I loved the Chinese Cafe "train" where dishes of food are arranged on a revolving "Train" which keeps moving past, so you help your self to the number of dishes you want at about $4 each, then pay for the number you got. Seating is right round the edge. Great fun for all ages. This Market is a must whenever we go to Christchurch.

Quite a small market, you can be done looking around it in half an hour but lovely surroundings and a nice place to spend an hour or two especially if you have brunch/lunch by the stream and walk around Riccarton Bush walkway. The setting is peaceful and picturesque.

Held in the pretty setting of Riccardo House there is so much nosh available that it boggles the tastebuds. Cheeses were amazing. Check out the small patch of predator-free bush behind the cottage, its the last stand of kahikatea floodplain forest in Canterbury and are juveniles at a mere 30 m and age between 300 to 600 years

Very walkable with lots of tasty lunch options plus honey, venison sausages, high quality cheeses, flowers, veg & fruits. I actually liked that it wasn’t enormously big. Lovely park setting.
