Still Standing proudly
Sep 2020
I was so pleased the wall of remembrance is still standing and has become a social area which is much enjoyed by everyone. Very gracious and great to feel part of the new and old Christchurch for while

Great work restoring this place

Ever since the bridge of remembrance was restored a few years ago, it has become a really good place to visit. Hats off to the people who did such a good job keeping this monument.

The Bridge of Remembrance is an impressive stone archway marking the entrance to the City Mall. It commemorates the soldiers from Canterbury who fought in World War I & II.

A Place to Reflect & Remember
Mar 2020
The bridge over the Avon River is a place to reflect and remember those that went before us so we could live. It's dedicated primarily to those who died in WW1 and WW2 but also Korea, Vietnam etc. The bridge was closed to traffic in the mid-1970s, so the area is peaceful, apart from the Trams that pass near by.

A place to remember
Mar 2020
The city has created a wonderful place to list all names of the lost lives during the dreadful earthquake in 2011. Behind each name is a person as well as families and friends.

Nice Memorial
Mar 2020
We wandered by the Bridge of Remembrance while in Christchurch and were touched by its beauty and meaning. Christchurch is a wonderful city and easily walkable in the central business district.

Landmark
Mar 2020
A major landmark in the city and you will pass it if you spend any time here. Stop for a moment and reflect on what it stands for rather than just hurrying past.
