Whislt walking around the CBD we came across a local who recommended we visit Cashel street. Such a great variety of food and shopping outlets. We are a young family with two boys under 2. They both enjoyed the space (to roam) and the art/statues dotted throughout. Highly recommend.

You've got to hand it to these New Zealanders...... This glorious city was decimated a few years ago and lost many of its grand, historic buildings. Now they're shopping out of steel containers and having a really good time doing it too, thankyou very much. A small but interesting collection of shops, cafes, banks and department stores. Colorful, vibrant and... More

Cashel street is amazing, I would have loved to have seen it before the earthquake. We went to the Restart mall all three days we were in Christchurch. This container mall is inspiring and will go down in history like the Gothic era, the Art Decor era. Please do not lose this history and please find a permanent place for... More

we spent 3 days in Christchurch, we visited this place at lease 3 times & found it different every time. Container city is a great innovation, yes not many shops & probably a bit of a tourist trap as far as price is concerned but if shopping is what you are coming here for you will not be satisfied. come... What a interesting way to bring the shopping back to the Christchurch city. It was great to have a coffee and look around what was for offer.

Loved walking around this area. Had lunch in a container set up as a cafe. Nice feeling and great way of using space and unique product.

We thought that there was going to be more to this area than what we found. For some reason we expected that there would be a bigger area of container shops, although the shops that were there were good. Across the road there is a place you can go to see the history of the earthquakes. For a fee, you... More

Cashel Street is still a great concept today. It brought vibrancy and life back into the Central City after the earthquakes and it continues to evolve as buildings are being rebuilt around it. Congratulations to the developers and the businesses who occupied it when the rest of the CBD looked so sad.

We first visited the container restart shopping mall in the early evening, thinking we would get pizza for dinner but everything was closed. The second time we visited was at lunchtime and it was Rea lly busy with all the food containers open and tables out with umbrellas up with people enjoying the food on offer. There were several metal... More

The cashel container mall is something that everyone should go and check out. There are aqll kids of shops and the food court is awesome. Dimitri's is a must when you go here.
