Poor Cashel Street, this street looks as though it was nearly almost destroyed but due to the determination of the business people it is back on its feet again & we really enjoyed this new contemporary container shopping centre, very bright & the flowers everywhere made it welcoming. A number of shops and F&B outlets have moved to the "Re:Start Area" operating out of modded transport containers. The place is colorful and vibrant though fairly small. There are lots of nice shops for tourists and a few stalls for cheap tasty eats. Definitely a must visit if you want to bring goodies back from your trip.

We are Cantabrians who currently live and work overseas. We hadn't been home since the earthquakes and were not looking forward to seeing the damage. Yes, we were shocked, and deeply saddened by what we saw, but Cashel Street Mall in the centre of town, was a great inspiration. The shipping containers are absolutely fantastic, loved the fact and the experience of having a coffee or meal in one of these. If you have the time whilst in christchurch - check it out.
