If in Christchurch, you should really plan to have an afternoon at the Re:Start mall. Since a number of the buildings in this pedestrian mall (along with the rest of the city) were destroyed shops now occupy brightly coloured containers and fill the now empty...More

Good on the foresight and encouragement of the Ballantyne family - leading the charge to revitalise our city centre. Lets hope the council can get the area around it right

The Restart Mall is worth the time to walk around and enjoy. It not only offers some smart shopping but the cafes are quite good too. The old heart of the city and near The Strip, Cashel Street is where inner city shopping is reemerging...More

It is amazing how this small area is so full of life. Shows the humour of the people of Christchurch that they an get moving after such dreadful earthquakes and start the reopening of their city. We loved Johnson's Grocery shop in the Hub.

What great innovation someone had to put the Cashel Street Mall together, amazing to actually see in real life we had only seen it on TV. Well Done Christchurch.

I really was impressed with the ReStart mall. There were at least two parking lots located at the edge of the mall, so easy parking is available. Considering the stores are made from shipping containers, everything looks impeccably clean and actually pretty hip! The containers...More

Just fantastic! Great shops, great atmosphere, best coffee, great food outlets (yummy woodfired pizzas.) The Re-Start Mall is like a symbol of hope and positive energy in the middle of the devastated city centre.

Very impressive that stores were set up after earthquake. All were decorated for Christmas, plus coffee shops and cafes available until stores close. Shows lots of spirit and energy.l

It was so encouraging to see the container stores bringing business back into the city. Worth a visit just to see the ingenuity of it. Go to the fence at the end of the road to view some of the earthquake damage.
