Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Stage great from most seating areas…we were upstairs at Rob Brydon and had a great view…the Town Hall has been beautifully restored to its former glory! Easy to navigate around, 2 people scanning tickets on each staircase so no waiting.
Bar at interval we were quickly served but was out the door quickly so no queue.
I love that The town Hall is the same…it has always been a lovely place to go for concerts I was a concert junkie and have been attending concerts there since it’s opening!
After all our changes I am very happy to have a night out there!

What a great venue for a concert. Big enough, but also intimate enough to make you feel a part of the show. Great accoustics, and great comfy seats.
Handy to food outlets and in the cbd. Very nice and warm...great bars and food outlets in the facility

Town Hall was basically destroyed in the 2011 earthquake, but surprisingly they are rebuilding it. A real mess presently and, realistically, probably wont be reopened for 3-4 years. WAS really nice, as my rating suggests. Worth a look just to see the devastation, and of all of Christchurch area.

Damaged and closed to the public.
Probably coming down after earthquake damage.

Awful place I swore I would never go back after last time, they need to rip all the seating out and start again. Less space than a cattle class airline, you cannot leave your seat to go to the toilet

Great night, the accoustics were great to listen to the rock and roll of the greatest band in history. The seating was not the best, just 25mm to narrow to sit for long periods and there is marked shortage of toilets especially when the bar is serving drinks and the mad rush at the interval begins. Apart from that it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and it will not stop me going to other concerts.

What a treat to have seen Joe Bonamassa at the Town Hall. This venue is superb, the acoustics are second to none, great to have an artist that did not mind photo's or dancing. Staff at the Town Hall very good will be back fro sure.

My partner and I went to the Jo Bonamasa Concert last night at the refurbished town hall. As it was a rush to get from work to town, we decided to eat at the town hall. Was very disappointed to find only bar snacks available when the website showed a decent menu, although the club sandwich was delightful but no napkins available and was given paper towel from the dispenser. Furthermore only getting plastic cups for drinks ? I can understand that in the foyer area where people may take their drinks into the auditorium, but plastic cups in the upstairs bar area as well ?
I found the seats were really hard and not comfortable to sit on. It was an uncomfortable experience. Jo Bonamasa and the band were just brilliant. It's a shame that they were let down by the venue, as I was looking forward to enjoying the concert.

After so long without our Town Hall, after the earthquakes, it really did feel good to be back in the Town Hall Auditorium again! The show CATS, was disappointing and not nearly good as other performances of it, which we have seen overseas, but the venue is great. They have done a good job of the rebuild. We look forward to more concerts and shows there in the future.
We got an email before the event telling us that only small bags are allowed and there will be bag checks at the entrance, but we didn't see any bags being checked at all.

Going into this building it was nothing special - but just like the tardis on doctor who tv programme it was quite expansive inside. The main auditorium is impressive and has great acoustics.
