The Tannery has cool shops, cafes, coffee bars and more. I won’t say you can fund everything there but there are many options.

The building is beautiful, many stained glass windows harvested from damaged buildings during an earthquake years ago.

It’s worth a stroll.

I found this as a recommendation on the TV and decided to check it out. It's quite a nice place, typical boutique shops, small, pricey, but for some it's is right up their alley. Not for me, but I appreciated it for what it was. A few nice cafes too, and a really cool bookstore (which is up MY alley lol). about 10 minutes or so outside of the city centre, check it out if you have time

If you are looking for something a wee bit different from the high street shops then you need to visit The Tannery. The many boutique shops are owner operated which makes them a stand out from the regular high street names that dominate the retail market. The Tannery building itself is undercover with tiled flooring and windows in the roof / ceiling makes for a light and airy shopping experience. It is a stunningly beautiful parade of shops.
The car park outside has ample spaces and more shops around the perimeter for you to look in such as a second hand kiwiana store, fabric shops, artisan bakery, clothing , not to mention a gorgeous yoga studio - and more besides. There is something for everyone here. Want to watch a movie or feeling a little hungry? - no worries cafes and a brewery are on site as well as a lovely little movie theatre.

Lovely little boutique shopping atrium. A nice place to visit and explore.

It has a wide range of attractive shops, all are a bit pricey, but nice enough to wander through.

There’s also bakeries, a florist, yoga studio, movie theatre, a pub and a few cafes to enjoy.

Lovely stonework buildings which are quite stunning.

Great location to meet friends or go on a date.

Unique shops within a beautiful building so it is an interesting area for shopping. There is free parking on site. But it is popular with tourists and locals. Expect to pay more for commodity and mostly things that tourists may not been keen to carry home.

We have had lots of Takeaway Pizzas and other food from The Tannery.
We bought 2 Pizzas & calamari recently. Cost $75.
Just a bit too expensive & in fact Pizzas were not that good.
I would probably shop around next time.

Beautiful building, they've made a really good job of the refurb. It's small but has bijou shops and several different cafes, including a small cinema at the end. The only slight issue could be the parking as it is limited but spaces appear all the time so it's just a matter of waiting and driving round. Worth a visit and a cuppa there, several choices for lunch too.

What a fabulous place to eat and shop. Not to be missed, I felt like I was in Melbourne. All the shops are boutique and the eateries are themed and beautiful. Thoroughly enjoyed out visit here and would definitely go out of my way to come again.

We visited the Tannery recently and were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the shops and the variety of what was on offer. We found the shops on the expensive side, and the shops around the edges of the main building were interesting and varied. There were places to sit, a cafe, an ice cream shop, and lots of resting and hang out places for waiting males, including a bar. Great place to shop on a bad day as all under cover, but not as generic as a mall. LOVED the clean, high quality bathroom. It was like an up market hotel. Very well presented good quality shopping.
