We spent a pleasant couple of hours browsing the eclectic art collection in this airy building. There are many works within the collection - something to interest everyone and well thought out comments accompanying each gallery. A great free resource and a good coffee bar/...More

The best part, it's free to the general public (yes some exhibition may require entry fee). Though being free is very well run. The architecture is beautiful and the location is good where you could park your car and walk the city from here.

The art gallery was very interesting with its modern artworks. The building itself is bright and airy. The restaurant attached is very good.

An extremely professionally run FREE gallery, containing a wide range of works of art. Topped up by the recent acquisition of a major new work by the UK’s finest contemporary artist, Bridget Riley. Nice coffee bar too.

For a city of its size Christchurch punches above its weight. I love the building and the collection is impressive. It was great to see areas for children.

We visited the gallery recently and were in awe at the beauty of the building, but also the exhibitions on display. This is a world class facility that Cantabrians and New Zealanders should be proud of. The fact it is free to enter is extremely...More

The permanent collection of local artists is supplemented by rotating special exhibits that focus on one specific artist. The rooms are light and airy, the explanations comprehensive and the special focus rooms well put together. Not a must see but a real pleasure for anyone...More

The gallery is housed in a modern building which sits perfectly in its location in the city. It has excellent gallery spaces and had a fine range of both modern and traditional exhibits - all well curated - when we visited. It is free although...More

This building is huge with the most amazing front of glass waves. The city tram will drop you off there. Really well displayed inside. Could have spent more time there

The Art Gallery has a lift for people in wheelchairs or using mobility aids. It also has a ramp for access as well as the stairs. There are several accessible toilets on both levels.
