The Museum is for free, most of the Museum's are in Christchurch. If you are interested in Modern Art you should have a look, the Museum is only a 5 min walk from the Canterbury Museum. Friendly help from the Museum's Staff.

Lots to see in this big art gallery, and it's free! I preferred wandering round the CBD (Cathedral Sq, New Regent Street, Botanical Gardens) but if you get bored of that or it's a rainy day this is a good alternative for a few hours.

Amazing experience. Building, exhibitions, organization, the staff were perfect. I wish I could spend more time because I could see everything.

What a beautiful building the Art Gallery is, and the artworks are gorgeous, modern or traditional there is something here for everyone. Just to marvel at the building itself is worth the journey, and dont miss the sculptures in the surrounding gardens.

Other exhibitions made us wish Wellington had a similar art collection. The staff were enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and added to...More

Great range of art with changing exhibitions in an interesting and innovative building, has a great little shop for cards and postcards and books etc linked to the art.

Great architecture of the building is in itself a reason to visit the museum. Wander thru the galleries for whatever they have on display at the time. And, it was free.

The building looks quite artistic and beaitiful, but exhibition were a few, maybe, still on the process to rebuiding the city after huge earthquake's damage.
