After wandering through the restart mall I went to Quake city. It was a really interesting and thought provoking exhibition. It gives you lots of information about what happened in Christchurch during the 2 earthquakes and also their vision for the future of the city.

The quake city display gives everyone who visits not only with details but quite reflection. There are peoples stories, video, retrieved items from buildings ie the bell. I am a local and even I did not experience what some did. The liquifaction coming back again...More

As a local resident I found this fascinating. For me the stories of Feb 22nd were extremely powerful. My friend, who was from out of town, was overwhelmed but I wanted to watch every story. So I have yet to return to see all the...More

It's now easy to walk through what was the centre of Christchurch and see all of the empty spaces where buildings used to be but it's somewhat sad to see that the guts of a city has been ripped to bits. Visit the "Restart" shopping...More

Set in the core of the city among the container stores. Gives a good feel for the disaster and the rebuild going on in the city.

Aside from the initial video about the Maori beliefs regarding earthquakes, which was a little odd and didn't really add anything, this small museum was packed with good information and exhibits. You can see surveillance video footage of the Jan 2011 quake happening, as well...More

It's a small museum, it's a temporary building but they pack a lot into it. Many of the items shown are iconic to the city, so may not resonate with visitors though they do a good job with photos of showing before and after -...More

Very interesting, but quite sad for all the loss of people. Gives you a insight about the earthquake, how it happened, after affects, how to rebuild??? Etc; for a small fee of $10.00 def worth a look!

There's parking, but it might be a short walk. We didn't' have a car, so it wasn't a concern for us.
