Was so looking forward to visiting and getting to purchase some cheese after recommendation from friends Staff service was terrible and seemed like we were a pain! Not sure if time of day or not, near closing! Overheard a person being told cannot sell seeing...More

This shop was recommended to us so after some intensive map reading we arrived. The cheeses on offer were amazing and the assistant explained each of the different types recommending a parmesan style cheese from NZ. It was very good and much enjoyed wine a...More

The shop stocks a wide range of quality imported and local cheeses. We bought a couple of NZ cheeses - farmhouse and aged gouda - and they were terrific! The Eccles cakes were amazing - probably the best Eccles cakes I've ever had and that...More

Went in to buy a wheel of cheese for a display! Was spoken to rudely by a cheesemonger, so left without buying anything. It doesn’t really matter how good your cheese is if you don’t get customer service right

Third time I went before 2p and was told “we stopped serving cheese rolls, obviously” - unapologetically. Wow. This is no Michelin starred restaurant in NY or HK. Either advertise if items are only served within certain hours - or serve them. Christchurch is a...More

Hi DL, Sorry about your disappointing visit. We don't actually advertise the cheese rolls - on our website it states that we serve them at lunchtimes only. Through no fault of our own we have been listed in several travel guides as providing lunch, but...More

This is the third time I have tried to order a cheese roll that they continue to advertise as their specialty. Three times I have been told they have either sold out or just stopped selling at 1:30pm. I have travelled around the world and...More

Hi Coreyr778, Just curious where we advertise that this is our specialty? We only say on our website that we serve the rolls at lunchtime and unfortunately several publications have decided to highlight them - we have no control what other people write about us....More

The cheesemonger imports bulk cheeses and ages them in a controlled environment. He has been stocking more and more NZ cheeses in recent years. They are always happy for you to taste before you buy and will spend lots of time talking you through different...More

I never knew that there was so much variety in New Zealand cheeses. Ask to taste any that take your fancy. You will not be disappointed.

Definitely a place for cheese lovers. They let you try the cheese before you buy it. We got NZ cheese, I think it was Parmesan and it tastes good. It is located in a walking distance from the Visitor Center.
