Found the grounds to be very lovely, even though we visited in the fall. Nice fireplace inside, great for sitting in front of and sipping wine. Staff were all pleasant, and very helpful. The Chardonnay was average, not really worth the price.

After driving some hours we needed to eat and I wanted to taste some Pegasus Bay wines. I’ve been on their mailing list for years but live some distance away, so look forward to tasting wines and having a picnic in the garden when we actually get there. Not any more. Today they ignored my presence in the tasting room for some time, then informed me that we were not permitted to eat in their gardens. Was their restaurant open? No. Was their deli open? No. What an absurd lack of hospitality! I could not leave my partner hungry after hours of driving, so we abandoned the whole thing. Pegasus Bay, your meanness of spirit has lost you a formerly loyal customer!

Loved it! The wine tasting was so so generous and we had Olivia talking us through them all with her vast knowledge of the wines and the Pegasus brand. We had a lovely walk through the garden after and then stopped in a few other Waipara vineyards. We would highly recommend this as a stop and will 100% be back!

We stopped off at Pegasus Bay on the way to Hanmer from Christchurch and are very glad we did. As well as the tasting of their wines, of which the Rieslings were great, Pegasus Bay have a fantastic building and indoor and outdoor seating areas, as well as beautiful grounds.
Our children loved running around the lake and grounds. Their mother and father enjoyed the time to try out the wines!

Popped by the cellar door on our way from Nelson to Christchurch and was happy to make it before it closed. (Only open 10-5 on weekends at the moment) the tasting was $10 for about 15 wines which was great value. (Was at cloudy bay the day before and had 5 wines to taste for the same price) We were served by Kat which was very knowledgeable and had exceptional service. Both red and white wines were great - aromatic and complex. Highly recommend this if you are ever around Waipara

We had a group lunch at the restaurant. The food is really good and we love the sourdough bread and miso butter starters. We were served by Rose who is really a lovely host. She explained each dish and the wine selection to us very well. Food was truly marvellous and we had ordered a magnificent variety to try -
Fish crudo, charcuterie, mixed olives
Line caught fish with BBQ asparagus, smoked potato, oyster creme
Organic pumpkin pine nut tortellini, seeds, fresh sheep curd
Harris beef bone in ribe eye, dry aged
Everything was perfect. We bought some wines to bring back at the end of our meal.

It rare for me to give this rating to a restaurant, but this one is very classy. Great venue, good wine, great service and fantastic food.

The tasting room associate was a bit stressed and there was a weird humming noise in the background, the wines were good and the restaurant was fabulous but couldn’t say the same about the tasting room experience.

This is the best place for wine tasting. They take you through an entire wine menu and there is no cover charge. We always buy though because the wine is so good. Great to follow up with lunch or snacks from the restaurant and walk the beautiful gardens.
