The gardens are a great walk. It is very well looked after and is alive with birds. You can walk by the river or through little hidden gardens shaded by huge trees. It’s no white knuckle ride but it’s really chilled

Had a lovely afternoon with my wife and 2.5yr old daughter. Nice to walk around and relax, good playground for my daughter to burn off some energy and if it was warmer I’m sure she would have enjoyed the paddling pool.

We found the gardens amazing with plenty to see. Take the guided tour to see all the park has to offer. Loved the Conservatory and the cactus exhibit but best of all is the amazing trees, very special.

Went for an evening stroll after dinner out. Was really impressed with the presentation. The rose garden was particularly impressive.

We had already visited the botanic gardens in Wellington and Dunedin and found this one much smaller with a much smaller variety of flora. However, it is a nice place to visit and we enjoyed the fountain artwork.

There is no actual campervan parking as the gardens are in the middle of CBS, but there is normal parking available within walking distance.
