Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This is advertised as the biggest weekend market. We come from Australia where the weekend markets are huge and has loads to offer. So we were quite disappointed to arrive and find a few rows of stalls which we completed browsing in 20 mins. We do give it the benefit of the doubt, perhaps the Covid meant a loss of many normal stall holders?

However, there are lovey international cuisines available at reasonable price. The kids loved the Swirl potatos and garlic naan bread. I also recommend the little japanese food truck which sells takoyaki and dango. They do have a jumping castle for young children and live music for adults. Just remember to bring some cash as some stalls only take cash.

We had a great couple of hours touring the vendors' stalls at this market. Unlike the Saturday Farmers Market in Riccerton, this market is mostly a hodgepodge of used and newer toys, T-shirts, crafts, tools, books, jewellery, food trucks and a few stalls selling hot foods. There is a minimal amount of fresh fruits and vegetables.

This is a market. Seriously, one of the best markets I’ve been to. It has the right mix of craft stalls, knock knack stalls and secondhand stalls selling stuff like old tools, garden products, knitted clothes, wood turned bowls, books and toys. As well, it has a pit yard of food stalls centred around a stage where musicians can entertain. Plenty of trees, shade and ambience. If you’re in Christchurch, check out this market on a Sunday.

I went to this market 20 years ago, where it was a thriving market, it's now a mere shadow of its former self.
The food caravans are OK but a long way to go for food.
The stalls were lots of plastic $2 shop stuff, some China- cups and saucers, which may interest some people, same with the stamp stall.
Not that many stalls.
Took me two busses to get out there

We were there for the last couple of hours on a Sunday in August. No problem parking. Vendors were OK. You may find some bargains. The food vendors and entertainment were the highlight.

Been here a few times before and enjoyed it. The market is run to raise funds for charity so its a feel good before you even walk round. Lots to see. Plenty of food vendors and a good variety of stalls. Nice place to hang out for a couple of hours if you are in the area. Always go home with something... Today it was a nice cheap hat and a kids book...

The Rotary Market operates every Sunday morning (bar Easter Sunday and Christmas) at the Riccarton Raceway. It officially opens at 9am but go earlier because then you'll catch the cool brocante and the dealers will always sell early. For bargains, be there at 2pm which pack up time.
If you're using public transport just get a bus that goes down Yaldhurst Road and ask to be let off at Racecourse Road. You can walk in 10 minutes from there. There's heaps of free parking both at the front of the market and to the rear. Just follow the road round and you'll see.
The size of the market varies with the seasons - it shrinks in winter but from late September onward it starts to buzz with offerings for Christmas. There are usually some great craft and brocante stalsl full of stuff you didn't know you couldn't live without and it's usually a bargain.
There's usually entertainment and buskers on the grass square where the food court is and on a sunny morning, it's a great place to people watch while having breakfast or morning coffee.
Other great buys at the market include second hand clothing, food to eat there as well as comestibles and bakery to take away and lovely fresh vege stalls.
There is an ATM but it charges per transaction. Some of the vendors have eftpos but you're better to go with cash.

Rotary have been running this market for a number of years and it is an amazing place to visit where you are guaranteed to find something of interest. There are half a dozen booksellers and if you can't find the book you are looking for you ain't looking hard enough! The record man has a wonderful array of LPs for collectors and there are antiques, jewellery, toys, crafts, clothes, collectables, freshly picked fruit and vegetables, bread. free range eggs and a myriad of other stall holders. It is one of the biggest in New Zealand so allow plenty of time for exploring. There is heaps of parking. And if you find yourself in need of something to eat there are some great food stalls dotted around the market - particularly in the food court area where you can sit and listed to live music. Cuisines include Lebanese, Thai, Vietnamese, German [The wiener man!], Dutch., Indian, Cornish[pasties], Japanese, English[great bacon and egg sandwiches], Kiwi [Venison steak sandwiches to die for] and my favourite Adam's Malaysian Noodle stall. Seafood noodles [which includes big juicy prawns] is the dish of the day/

A good way to spend a Sunday morning. Hundreds of stalls (some of dubious quality/value/use) and over all a good range of what you'd expect at a market. There are bargains to be had if you look.

Can't understand why people give this bad reviews??? There are over a hundred stalls here all selling variety of interesting goods. Sure some of its not so great but it is a market. We brought good quality cheap stuff for the kids that they loved and some quirky stuff for ourselves. There's a broad selection of food stalls, a fantastic kids section they could stay in for hours (bouncy castles, buggy trampoline).

I thought it was brilliant.
