It's the ultimate Antarctic adventure! Experience the dramatic seasonal lighting in the four seasons of Antarctica show where it 'snows' every 6 minutes. Venture out on to 'the ice' from Scott Base to play in 'Antarctica' the snow & ice experience and survive an Antarctic storm! How long can you hold your hand in the icy Antarctic water? Hang out with Little Blue Penguins, buckle up for the famously exciting Hagglund ride, take an awesome simulated 4D Antarctic cruise, watch Happy Feet 4D, then watch a stunning movie on a MASSIVE screen! It's the closest you'll get to Antarctica without mounting your own expedition!

The International Antarctic Centre shows the history of Antarctic exploration not only by New Zealand but the International community. Take the time to do the Hagglunds tracked people carrier with a people carrier trailer ride. It is a little bumpy and gives an idea of the capabilities of such vehicles. Another good thing is "an up close with the Huskies".... More

With the variety of things to do here this centre is a different and fun place to visit. From the penguins, and who doesn't like them, to the Antarctic experience, where warm coats and boots are provided, the cinema that was showing an interactive part of the film happy feet and not forgetting a ride on the hagglund. O and... More

Awesome experience and would reccommend to visit. We were lucky and were there for feeding time with the penguins. The 4d show was the highlight as well as the hagland ride. Bit pricey but fortunately it was school holiday time and my daughter was free. Definitely worth seeing.

It's right near the airport so we did the express tour just before our flight. We got to feel the temperature of what it would be like in the Arctic. Saw some penguins and huskies. Was an enjoyable experience.

Kids really enjoyed this, particularly the Antarctic exploring snow transporters and the weather simulation.

totally the best experience in Christchurch, it made me feel like I was on the actual continent. I loved the antarctic storm (hey, I'm Polish- my middle name is 'Cold') and the penguins. Very informative visit, covers most of the bases, now I know lots more and am ready for my next travel.

Had a great time here with family! Only issue was that staff undercharged us one person so when it came time to do the ride we were one short, so had to wait another hour to get on the next ride (cutting into the rest of our day) then got back to the hotel that night and found they had... More

Thanks to the Antarctic Centre we don't have to book passage to the Antarctic to get a very real sense of what it is like there. Within the centre are experiences that can show you first hand what a "white squal" is like (with loaned snow parkas), how cold the ocean temp feels (with a timer to see how long... More
