It's the ultimate Antarctic adventure! Experience the dramatic seasonal lighting in the four seasons of Antarctica show where it 'snows' every 6 minutes. Venture out on to 'the ice' from Scott Base to play in 'Antarctica' the snow & ice experience and survive an Antarctic storm! How long can you hold your hand in the icy Antarctic water? Hang out with Little Blue Penguins, buckle up for the famously exciting Hagglund ride, take an awesome simulated 4D Antarctic cruise, watch Happy Feet 4D, then watch a stunning movie on a MASSIVE screen! It's the closest you'll get to Antarctica without mounting your own expedition!

Minutes from the Christchurch airport and fairly far away from most activities for tourists (or even locals) is the Antarctic Centre. So, if have an afternoon flight, check out, take your bag, and spend the morning at the Centre. There are displays geared for adults as well as children, and the "4D" movie experience is both a masterful piece of... More

Three hours was not long enough to see everything here. There are numerous short tours within the complex. The penguins are a must for all ages. The Hagglund was a good thrill. The 4D experience unexpected but fun. The staff were fabulous and there to help you get to the next attraction on time. A must for anyone interested in... More

Took my four year old for a day out to the antarctic centre, tickets are on the expensive side but lots to do which makes up for price. Had a great day out with family especially the husky, although I would say more parts are designed for slightly older children. However daughter already wants to go back, cafe of a... More

As it was very near to Christchurch airport, we went to the International Antartic Centre right after we flew in from Auckland. It is probably the best attraction in Christchurch. The staff were friendly and helpful and the attractions were great. The Hagglund ride on the obstacle course was the highlight of the visit. Great fun and well worth the... More

A very well organised place with a free bus trip to and from the city centre if you wish. Upon arrival, the very nice lady at the desk gave us a form and gave us the times we needed to be at the Penguin feeding, Hagglund Ride and the Snow Storm Experience. This meant you had a pre-organised time to... More

There is a free bus that picks you up from the city center (and return) which made it very easy to get there. Its an interesting way to spend some time learning about the Antarctic region and the NZ base there. The 4D movie was fun and it exhibits were interesting. We enjoyed it!

Feel the Antartic Chill for a few moments and have a blast on the bizarre Haglund ride. The 4-D experience is breathtaking and the little blue penguins are so precious. Lots to do for kids of all ages here

We arrived a little late due to when our plane landed. But the service was lovely & the staff very helpful. Trying to give us the most in such a short time frame. We'll worth a visit especially if you love penguins.

The best part of this place was the haglan ride problem was it only took like 10 mins at the most i thought it should have done another lap .The penguins were also very awesum i thought the rest was very average .The movies needed narrating so they were a bit boring and the kids easily bored . The ladies... More

What a great place to spend a few hours and gain a real in depth look at life in the ice and glazial parts of our planet . The make believe snow storm and blizzard encounter was an interesting treat and so real in its application ( THE SNOW ROOM) Even walking around the site was very interesting observing the... More
