Craig picked us up at our hotel and from start to finish he customized our tour to meet our wishes. We drove to Arthur's Pass where we were served a delightful picnic with views of the mountains. Along the way ther and back, he answered a thousand questions about flora, fauna, history, geology, you name it. After our return to Christchurch, he gave us a quick tour of the CBD, including the heartbreaking Christchurch Cathedral damaged during the earthquake. Craig goes out of his way to make your tour something you will always remember. You can't go wrong!

We had an absolutely amazing day with Craig while visiting on a cruise stop. Craig had contacted us a number of times prior to our arrival to help us plan a very full day. He picked us up from the dock and we headed to Arthur's Pass National Park. We stopped along the way along a meadow to had Craigs homemade scones, jam and tea. We toured the National Park which was breathtaking! Craig made us a picnic lunch that was to die for!! Everything homemade. He even fresh cooked asparagus from his garden. The men in our group are wood workers. On the way back through the valley he surprised us and arranged for a tour of a saw mill! We had a 10 hour tour planned and Craig had us back to the ship right on time!

Thanks so much for your generous words. That was a fabulous day with you all and glad that you enjoyed the picnic lunch as well. Good on the lads at the Sawmill for giving you such a great tiki tour of the mill too. Hope you all have some great memories of your trip to Canterbury. Appreciate you keeping me in a job I love. All the best to you for 2020.

Our cruise ship dropped anchor in Akaroa (instead of Lyttleton).
In February 2011, Christchurch was rocked by a 6.1earthquake. The devastation was widespread and many buildings were damaged beyond repair or simply fell down.
We knew that we would be unable to enter the central city, we also knew this would likely be our only trip to the area.
So we again went to tripadvisor.com to find a local guide who could show us the beauty of the Akaroa Peninsula as well as Christchurch.
We found Craig Rome and operates CanNZ Tours. What a great find!
Craig greeted us warmly and drove us up to a hilltop overlook of Barry's Bay - the center of the Akaroa Peninsula.
Craig took the "high road" over the mountain passes where we stopped at a turn out for tea!
Craig produced a picnic table as well delightful goodies including blueberry muffins, snack cakes, and other such delicacies to accompany piping hot tea and coffee!
As we descended into Christchurch, we stopped at an overlook where Craig described the city and the impact of the earthquake.
We proceeded on into the central city area where Craig was able to get us within a block of the Anglican Cathedral as well as many of the other damaged buildings. At no time did we go behind any safety barriers or anything that could be even slightly dangerous - Craig just knew what was accessible and what was not.
After this sobering view of the city, Craig treated us to a fantastic lunch at his house! He even let me help!
We had a splendid day with Craig and only wish we could have spent more time. He treated us more like visiting friends than clients.
I would highly recommend CanNZ to anyone visiting Akaroa or Christchurch.

Craig Rome is an excellent tour guide. We drove down to Queenstown and drove back to Christchurch. He was very knowledgeable, flexible, pleasant and informative with a great sense of humour. And it was very clear that he tried his best to show me the best of NZ in every single minute which was great.

I would definitely recommend Craig to anyone, especially those who want to have a special customised trip for herself/himself or in a small group for New Zealand. Definitely, he will make your trip memorable and enjoyable.

And if you are a dog lover, like me, then you MUST meet his adorable ‘Chibi’. She is absolutely beautiful, gorgeous and lovely!!

CanNZ's golf Tour was bad. He could not explain the cost etc. He was not known about the golf course at Christchurch. He knows only his picnic golf, but he doesn't kow the famous golf courses,TerraceDown,Clearwater etc.We had experiensed many confused problems.
CanNZ says:
Play fees is only 18H play fee, but golf course says 9H play fee is available. which is correct?
In case of canceling the golf play by rain etc, Can NZ requires the cancel fee 100%.
But golf course says that cancel is OK without no charge.Which is correct?
Golf play fee is the same around chiristchurch. Why?
etc
CanNZ requires the unreasonable fees which is not explained by CanNZ.
It was the terrible experience!

We were picked up by Craig (6 of us) and then spent the best day of our entire
cruise with him. His knowledge of the Island and flora was amazing. His trip was
well planned and very interesting. All six of us enjoyed the day. His itinerary and thoughts for the 5-6 hours, were combined with out thoughts, which turned out amazing. I would highly recommend Craig Rome and his tours for any of your needs in New Zealand.
Cannz Tours. You made out day very special. Thank you. Erline and Josh Rabin, The Rosenbergs and Starkmans.

January 10, 2015 sunny.. Mr.Craig had arrived at my daughter's the house in Christchuch in early morning. Mr.Craig's car is Nissan Caravan. We were starting to Trant's Alpin tour.
Members were five including daughter family. The car was comfortable widely. And traveling to the west direction while watching the Christchurch Airport to the right hand. Vast sheep ranch was equipped with the wheeled 400m length watering machines. We have seen many those machines. Previously individuals had run the small privately sheep ranch. It is currently the company organization large scale ranch.
In the wake of the NZ dollar higher, exports of deer meat reduced. The number of deer ranch has decreased. We arrived at the station immediately while we listening to Mr.Craig's the various explanations.
. Mr.Craig proposed to ride the next station OTIRA, because the view of OTIRA neighborhood was wonderful.
Mr.Craig had negotiated with the conductor to ride to OTIRA. Mr.Craig had arrived already in OTIRA station by car.
We got off to many view points. Mr.Craig guided using care to five-years-old grandchildren and elder me. We walked the trails of the forest while enjoying the scenery. When we walked in the woods, Mr.Craig described the moss which was used to cushioning. We arrived at the beautiful river. Mr.Craig explained to us that why become to beautiful cobalt blue river. We walked while listening to interesting story.
Became the long-awaited lunch. The parking on the riverside. Mr.Craig was assembled table, chairs. Preparation of dishes. Homemade bread, eggs of chickens that are bred at home, vegetables that were harvested from home gardens, a variety of dressing arranged. We ate delicious a sandwich. When meal was over, the bird kue came suddenly landing. After kue playing with a red plastic container a few minutes that Mr.Craig gave as a toy, Kue flew away
Next Jet Boat, sharp turning in the wide processing of river. It was thrilling. When we returned to the dock, Mr.Craig has requested the captain by reason for taking photo, that we are turning again. Turning of the bonus was followed by two times.
Next visited the sheep ranch. Sheep dog was cute. The dog played with us. When the dog entered the ranch, suddenly change to occupation dog. We have been treated kindly because Mr.Craig was a close relationship also with ranch owner.
After this, Mr.Craig sent us to the daughter's house .

The day before we return to Japan, the barbecue of Mr.Craig house we had been invited. We ate poua shell. Mr.Craig took this in Kaikoura. It was delicious. I had been drank almost one bottle Keikosan's Japanese sake "Kubota". Keikosan! Excuse me.

The Rata flowers are absolutely amazing and great that the Kea did eventually drop in to visit us just before we left. Thanks again for using my Tranz Alpine tour and I look forward to when we may meet you and Sumie san again soon. 本当にありがとうございました。

We travelled with Craig of Can NZ for a day trip to Mt Cook in March 2014. Craig was a very courteous host, gave a highly informative commentary throughout the trip, enquired as to our particular interests and was quick to point out along the way anything which he thought would fit these interests. He was also very obliging in regards to photography stops. A delicious home baked morning tea was provided and a picnic lunch prepared with produce from Craig's garden. We found this tour to be enjoyable and relaxing and would have no hesitation in recommending the Can NZ Mt Cook tour to others.

Excellent guide, friendly and knowledgeable. The cooked food is a plus!. We are strict vegetarians (no onion no garlic) and he had no problems cooking something up from his organic garden. We enjoyed ourselves and the picnic/ cooked lunch by the river was quite cosy if not for the sudden and short rain. If you're travelling with more people the price will adjust downwards accordingly which is very reasonable. But even for 2 people the price seems just about right thanks to the nice food and personal tour. Definitely can consider taking up his services. !!
