Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

If you are visiting Riverside Market, you should stop by here as it is only a short walk away. They certainly picked a lovely spot for the memorial. I was impressed that they wrote the victims' names in their native language as well as in English. It demonstrated the diversity and acceptance of the region and country.
I knew about the mosque shootings of 2019 but was less aware of the earthquake the city experienced nearly a decade earlier. Christchurch and its residents have sure been through a lot! The same day we came here, we visited the site of the mosque shootings. May God give strength to the people of NZ!

This is a simple riverside walkway that dipps down to have a stone wall engraved with the names of those who died in the 2011 quake. Walking along and catching the evident diversity in the names is touching. The site along the river is also very peaceful and green

My wife and I spent some time walking along and reading the names of those taken as a result of the 2011 quake. One or two were known to me, but regardless, the list of names, qualifications and ethnicities was astounding. Congratulations to those responsible for erecting this memorial!

It's not well sign posted or designed to standout which is a shame as it would be such a visible pull if designed in a bolder format. However that's probably how the families and friends wanted it. Reflective spot with the river quietly passing by.

A must to visit the place-name of a friend lost in the CCTV building collapse. A place of reflection - we liked the family and friend touches beneath lost loved ones names. Also a nice touch to be able to sit on the opposite side in the quiet to spend some quiet time.

This memorial is a fitting tribute to the people who were lost to the earthquake. A beautiful place of reflection that people can visit. Set along the Avon it is truly tranquil and beautiful in a city that is still hurting from the loss of so many things, the most important thing being life. It was truly emotional to visit as we saw flowers and such adorning the path in front of names of loved ones. Many people were standing and reflecting, unspoken words felt by many.

Peaceful path along the river allowing quiet contemplation. Done in white marble with names etched in. Natural backdrop really lends to the reverence

We took time to sit by the river peacefully and pay our respects to those lost in the earthquakes of 2010/2011
Some have left photos by their loved ones names ,floral tributes and painted stones
The names etched on the wall lend a connection to persons unknown to you .
We watched the ducks diving and rested a while

The monument was very symbolic because it was in the form of a wave carrying the names of all those who had died in the earthquake. Definitely worth seeing.

A very quiet place to sit and reflect on all the poor souls that perished in the quake. It makes it real to the rest of the world what tragedy took place here.
