Beautiful vineyard, friendly folks
Mar 2018 • Couples
Visiting Christchurch, we had the chance to schedule a last-minute tour of Cracroft Vineyard. The hosts (owners) are expat Italians and couldn't have been more gracious! They gave us a tour of their vineyard and bottling facility. They answered all out questions and led us through a tasting of their wines in the quaint tasting cottage. We opted for the cheese platter and you should too! They have lovingly created a wonderful little boutique vineyard. If you are a wine lover, put it on your don't miss list!

Lovely Wine, Lovely Hosts
Mar 2018 • Friends
Visited Cracroft Chase last Saturday as part of a tour group. What a charming winery! Learnt some interesting facts about the wine making process from the friendly Hosts as well as sitting down to sample the lovely Pinot Gris which they make. We were also lucky to indulge in their generous cheese/crackers plates to accompany the tastings. The visit to this winery definitely put a smile on everyone's face.

Beautiful Setting
Feb 2018 • Friends
Visited here with a large group for a winery tour and wine testing. Definitely not disappointed. The sun was streaming down on such a beautiful setting, such a lovely visit and the hosts were just delightful. The winery tour was very interesting and everyone enjoyed the wines. Put this on your list of things to do, thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon

So close, but a world away
Dec 2017 • Couples
A must-visit in Christchurch. This hidden gem is a great example of New Zealand wine, but it's also not a drive. Most vineyards are a hefty distance away from cities, but Cracroft is an amazing micro-climate tucked into the hills, just 15 minutes from CBD. It does not disappoint.

Our first stop after landing in New Zealand - absolutely worth it
Jan 2018 • Family
Wilma and Alexander are great hosts and their wines were thoughtfully crafted and absolutely delicious - even to those in our group who were not wine drinkers. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and tasting and could have stayed for hours with these two. Definitely worth scheduling a visit.

Excellent visit
Jan 2018 • Family
Alessandro, Wilma and their vineyard are charming. An hours private visit includes a chat by the vines, a walk through the wine making process and an informal tasting with cheeses and olives.

Private Tour On A Crisp June Afternoon
Jun 2017 • Friends
My group called the vineyard at around 10 am and after speaking with Wilma, we scheduled a tour and tasting for later that afternoon outside of their usual hours.

We arrived around 4 pm with Alessandro and Wilma happily greeting us. They were wonderful hosts and showed us their vineyard and their facilities. We all thoroughly enjoyed their story, what makes their vineyard and mirco-climate special, and how they press, store, and bottle their wine. We then went inside to sit down for a tasting with some delicious cheese, crackers, and olives. Alessandro and Wilma are a delightful couple that we were so happy that we got to meet. We left after about 1 hour, but we made sure to bring a couple of bottles of wine back with us!

Hidden in the hills.
May 2017 • Business
I usually write my own reviews but uncharacteristically read the other reviews first and found there is little I can add - warm, friendly, welcoming, nice wine, nice people, and a nice surprise to find such a gem hidden in the hills so close to town, but go soon as, I believe, the council is about to build a housing complex in the valley, so my next review could be entitled "Hidden behind houses". (Long driveway).
They don't (yet?) serve food here but I suggest a cafe in Hoon Hay which donates to Silverback gorillas.

Fabulous afternoon vineyard tour!
Apr 2017 • Friends
Scenic vineyard, olive grove and winery, minutes from Christchurch.

Alessandro and Wilma were wonderful hosts and opened up especially for us.
We were greeted on arrival by Alessandro who gave us a very personal and enthusiastic tour of his operation, starting with the vineyard, moving onto the winery and then to tastings and nibbles.
He was full of interesting information and more than happy to answer any of our questions. He had a great sense of humour and as there were only three of us, the tour felt very personal and tailored towards our interests.
We finished up with a tasting of the two delicious styles of Pinot Gris made at the winery, along with some cheese and crackers.
Highly recommend this tour over other larger vineyards - it was such a pleasure to meet Alessandro and Wilma - we left with huge smiles and a few bottles of Pinot Gris stashed away.
