If you are arriving by ship, its quite a walk to the pick up car park but just follow the blue line. Deano is a larger than life character and is very informative. We had 9 people in his van and we all bonded well. The wine naturally helps. We visited mainly boutique vineyards and due to our ship not leaving till late Dean added an extra vineyard to the itinerary. You also visit a little chocolate outlet on the way back. The drive from Picton to the wineries takes about 30 minutes and you get good commentary on the locality before arriving at the vines. Lunch is not included in the price so allow $20-30. As the vineyards are all boutique you don't see names that you recognize from the UK supermarkets although you do pass some of the brand names such as Cloudy Bay, Brancott and Villa Maria. It may be that these do not open their doors to tourists. I was lucky I sat in the front with Dean but for a larger person and with 9 people on board the ride wouldn't have been particularly comfortable.
Dean is a personable guy and is passionate and has great knowledge about the Region.

thanks Keith, the big recongnisable vineyards are open to the public, but we like to vary all our tours and show you the full range of what Marlborough has to offer from the small family owned to the large corporate wineries. Yes we cannot pick up from the ship but if anyone needs us to and has arranged in advance we would be able to drive up closer if required, it is only a five minute walk. We have never had any complaints about our vehicles before and most people find them comfy enough. thanks

We were picked up by our guide Phil at 10am from our hotel.
There were 10 people in the group from all over the world so it was interesting to meet them. Phil took us to 6 different vineyards in the day , from the largest to the small family owned ones. At each one we tasted 4 or 5 wines. Phil gave excellent background information all day and then each vineyard gave us a wine host to explain their wines. At the third vineyard we also stayed for an excellent lunch, cost not included in tour price.
We tasted some excellent wines and also found out how we could buy some of them in the uk.

They took us to different wineries so we could experience the full range of wines from Marlborough- classic Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir but we also go to taste some of the different grape varieties Marlborough has to offer. Phil was a great host and took the groups preferences into account when deciding which vineyards to visit. I could not fault it and would really recommend it. Our group were all kiwis wanting to experience nz wines from Marlborough and they really delivered. Thanks!

Our tour guide Phil collected us from our accommodation in Picton and delivered us to a variety of wineries about which he gave as much background information as we requested. He was great company and we didn't feel rushed. We enjoyed the variety of wineries and the input from the cellar door staff at each location. As we took a whole day tour we stopped for over an hour for a delicious lunch ( not included in cost but restaurant well chosen). A lovely day to celebrate the conclusion of our Queen Charlotte track walk.

A truly fantastic day from a start to finish.
Door to door service and simply the best driver and guide in Phil. 🙌🏼 🚌 🙌🏼
A perfect mix of 5 different vineyards’ cellar doors which all offered something different in terms of their hi(story) and learnings from the Marlborough region with its varied soils and climates.
Our lunch was quite superb at #3. Allan Scott Bistro which nicely bridged the morning & afternoon visits to #1. Clos Henri, #2. Spy Valley Wines and #4. Jackson Estate, #5. Lawson’s Dry Hills.
Would like to thank the other members of our group who made the day even more enjoyable with some good chat and banter throughout the tour.
We would both highly recommend this package and I for one would not hesitate to repeat the experience. 🗣️ “Cheers!!!” 🥂🍾🍷

Very nice summer day spent with friends! We went to 6 different wineries, a delicious $45 set menu lunch at one of the wineries.
The tour guide, Sam, was an absolute darling and we had a really good time!

Just a beautiful tour with Seamus. He was incredible with his local knowledge and wine knowledge. It’s well worth taking this tour because the tasting fees are included and you probably won’t find the interesting wineries that they know on your own. Most importantly leave the driving to them so you don’t drink drive!

On any tour such as this it’s important to have a good guide. We were lucky enough to be given Dean, an affable and knowledgeable guy who is very easy on the ear.
We went to four cellar doors, from small family, to brewery owned, to organic, and happily slurped away while being given interesting information.

We were fortunate that it was a small group and that we had gorgeous weather, but it would have been an excellent day regardless. Across 4 cellar doors we tasted 17 wines, from Villa Maria which we know in the UK to smaller and less known vineyards. Hamish was a great host and driver, giving us lots of info about Marlborough and the wineries we visited. The wineries themselves were very welcoming and explained their wines and their development over the years. We were really pleased that we chose this tour and would recommend it to others.

We can't fault our Wine Tour Experience. Jess was helpful and accommodating when I was booking a tour for 11, coming from all over NZ. All the wineries she suggested were great and we all enjoyed the wine tastings. Our driver Phil was knowledgeable, friendly and seemed to really enjoy his job. We even paid a visit to a chocolate factory on the way home.

Hi, myself snd niece are arriving at 12.15pm on April 18th, 2024 via the ferry from Wellington. Do you offer pickup at the ferry and if so, can we join the 1230pm half day wine tour? Does the tour return to Picton? We will have 2 suitcases. Please help me out with the best options. We don't have much time and would like this tour on this day as the following day we are considering the train to Christchurch. Thankyou for any help you/anyone can offer.

Our tour was arranged by Marlborough Wine Tours. Tel +64 3 574 2889. I am not sure whether they do pick up at Picton, this is about 30 mins drive from Blenheim. The tourist offices in NZ ISITE are very helpful, we used the one in Blenheim and Wellington.

What time do the wineries generally close? We will arrive at our Blenheim hotel around 1.30pm. Is that too late for a half day tour?

Thank you for contacting us. When are you thinking of visiting Blenheim. Because we are heading into the winter months cellar doors tend to start closing a little earlier. We could possibly offer you a short 3 hour tour and arrange to pick you up in Blenheim at around 1.30. The tour would then finish around 4.30 - 5.00pm. If this is of any help to you, please do let us know.

HI David, We can do a private tour for one person or up to 10 people. For a private tour we usually ask which wineries would like to be visited
Lunch is not included but we can suggest several places at wineries to have lunch We hope this is of help
