This tour was a such a treat! My friend and I booked the half day tour last minute. We ended up being the only two on the tour so Jon was our private tour guide. He took us to lots of smaller spots. Coffee, pies, ice cream, brownies, Greek, deli, peanut butter - such a wide variety! He was very flexible and worked around a couple of dietary restrictions and also asked for our input to make sure we liked the places we went. Plus we drove around a lot of the city while he shared info about the areas where we were driving. We even up to the top of Mount Victoria to look out across the city. Our tour was supposed to be a half day but he kept us out even longer. It was a really awesome way to see the city. Can't recommend highly enough!!

What a day! Definitely wear your stretchy pants and don't have breakfast beforehand. Was a wonderful tour getting to try different foods of Wellington that we had never tried before. Jon was friendly, knowledgeable and went above and beyond to make us comfortable during the tour. We recommend this tour to anyone, whether you're visiting Wellington, or locals like ourselves.

We had an amazing time with Jon on the tour! We had been experiencing some disappointment with the weather during our trip, but Jon managed to give us an amazing tour despite the weather conditions! We went to places we never would have found on our own and were able to see so many things on the route. Jon's knowledge of both food and Wellington was very impressive. He even gave us a restaurant recommendation for dinner, which ended up being one of our favorite meals for the whole trip! Highly recommend this tour to anyone staying in Wellington :)

Imagine this: You're in Wellington, excited for a delicious and informative food tour. You pay NZD250 per person for a "Walking Food Tour" promising tastings, cultural insights and maybe even wine. Instead, you get morsels of food and a crash course on earthquake-proof buildings. That's the reality my wife and I faced on the Walking Food Tour of Wellington on 13 Dec 2023.
The tour boasted "food tastings”, but the reality was a series of stingy nibbles. The first stop was for a cheese scone, which was decent. Then came the let-downs: Vietnamese rolls that fell apart with no explanation of their connection to Wellington, a quarter of a dry chicken schnitzel sandwich and a shard of chocolate. The final stop offered kombucha to fill our stomachs, for what it’s worth.
Stella, our guide, seemed to have forgotten the "historical insights" part of the tour description. Earthquakes and shoe factories? We could have learned more from a quick Google search. Anecdotes about Les Mills gyms felt like a detour into someone else's vacation. Where were the stories of Maori culture, the city's vibrant arts scene or the culinary background behind Wellington's diverse flavours?
To add insult to injury, my email complaint to the director yielded a curt and uncaring response.
So do yourself a favour: skip this overpriced, under-delivering tour. Wellington's culinary scene is bursting with amazing independent eateries and vibrant markets waiting to be explored. You'll get more flavour, history and bang for your buck venturing out on your own.

The Walking Food Tour of Wellington is one of the best experiences I had while living in the capital and is highly recommended for visitors and locals alike.
Jon is a fantastic tour guide who has a lot of interesting stories to tell and who made sure I was always getting the most out of this amazing experience full of culinary delights.
Looking forward to get on another culinary adventure with him next time I'm in Wellington!

What a delight. A wet day spiced up visiting a wide range of eateries, Asian supermarket, butchery, coffee shop, fish shop, and urban winery. Lemon and limoncello sausage, Korean pancake, Malaysian coffee, gelato, baked goods, and so much more. Te Aro urban winery tastings was superb. Jon is a great host and knowledgable guide. An absolute delight.

Our day with Jon was great! He gave us a terrific overview of Wellington and introduced us to numerous interesting places we wouldn’t otherwise have found. His knowledge of the area and easy manner made it a pleasure to spend several hours sampling interesting culinary treats. We have taken food tours around the globe and found this to be one of the best. Highly recommend!

A friend and I were so pleased we booked this amazing food walking tour with Jon. He is a great guide with huge local knowledge.
We tasted lots of very yummy food and drink from coffee to donuts to ice cream to Gin and lots of other foods in between. Along the way, we went down some little side streets that had hidden gems of buildings and businesses that you otherwise wouldn't find. I highly recommend if you have time that you take one😁

Where to even start? Jon is an amazing guide full of life, laughter and knowledge about Wellington and food having spent years in the industry supplying to locals. His knowledge of food is amazing having worked and lived around the globe. As a Travel Agent I appreciate touring however he really opened our eyes to think beyond the exterior of shops we would have simply walked past and found magic in some of the smallest retail shops. What a trip ! Thank you John.

We had a really enjoyable day with Jon. He had a plan which we discussed at our first stop- the bikery and coffee shop, it was very cool. Jon was flexible when we wanted to change it up a bit as he clearly wanted us to have a great time. We tried some great food but more importantly he introduced us to locals and showed us places that we would never have found as a tourist on our own. We were on a cruise ship and booked this instead of one of the big bus tours. Great decision!
